Outfit of the Day | Babouche

Outfit of the Day | Babouche
One of the "it" shoes of 2016 is the Moroccan babouche. Yes, those pointy and flat slippers are in and you know I'm all over that trend. I'm a fan of any type of flat shoes, especially if they resemble slippers! You have Acne Studios selling a babouche for $490 and Everlane selling a modern take on the babouche for $145. I don't know about you, but I personally don't have the budget to be spending over $100 on a pair of shoes at the moment. And that's when my thrifty instincts kicked in and I started searching for a way to try the trend and save some money. Luckily I was able to find a new pair of handmade babouches from Fez, Morocco on Poshmark and I purchased them immediately! My dad may not like my new "Aladdin" shoes, but now I can say that I'm obsessed with the babouche trend.

3 Ways to Style An Oversized Shirt

3 Ways to Style An Oversized Shirt
Here's a little story about this oversized men's button down. It was Record Store Day 2014 and after doing a little record shopping, I stumbled upon the Buffalo Exchange Earth Day sale. First of all, I had no idea it was Earth Day and back then I was literally the worst at thrifting (even at a place like Buffalo Exchange). They had around 5 cardboard boxes outside the store full with $1 clothing items. And I won't lie, most of the stuff in the boxes was pretty horrible but then I managed to dig up this blue button down from the bottom of one of the boxes. At first I didn't think much of it but I decided to get it because I really loved the royal blue color. Now 2 years later I couldn't be happier that I decided to pick this $1 shirt up because it's one of the most versatile pieces I own. I wear it casually, a little edgy, and I even dress it up once in awhile.

3 Ways to Style a Midi Skirt

3 Ways to Style a Midi Skirt
Today is the beginning of a brand new series on my YouTube and blog called "3 Ways to Style." I'm going to be taking a standout piece in my capsule wardrobe and styling it three different ways to show you how versatile they are. The star of my first episode is the Who What Wear midi skirt which is still available at Target. I'm typically not a skirt type of girl, but I instantly fell in love with this midi skirt when I laid eyes on it. It took a cute and comfortable midi skirt to break my lifelong obsession with jeans.

Closet Confidential

Closet Confidential
I've been getting asked to talk more about my style on my YouTube channel. If you've been following my blog for a while, then you all know about my very comfortable and laidback style but that's not the case on my channel. I thought a good way to start introducing style videos to my channel would be by talking about some of my favorite pieces in my capsule wardrobe. I will fill you in on everything from the oldest item to my closet, to my three favorite pieces at the moment.

Outfit of the Day | The Chambray Dress

Outfit of the Day | The Chambray Dress
Get ready for the attack of the hats! 2016 is definitely going to be the year of the hats for me, especially since it's barely March and it already feels like summer here in San Diego. I'll basically do anything to keep the sun out of my face, so hats are perfect for me and my pale face. You've already seen me style a hat with a laid back outfit, but today I wanted to pair it with a dress to show you how versatile they really are. I probably looked like a six year-old got dressed by her mom, but at least I looked like a stylist six year-old.

Outfit of the Day | Scarf Weather

Outfit of the Day | Scarf Weather
Can you believe that it's gotten so cold that I've had take out my scarves? Yeah, me neither. Although our winters here in San Diego are pretty darn weak when compared to what I experienced while I was studying in Paris, when you experience hot weather almost all year long a 30º F drop makes a huge difference. While it's not cold enough for a thick coat, I have gotten the opportunity to wear my thick burnt orange colored snood I purchased while I was in Paris! I've also been on a serious beanie and boots kick lately and the ones that I'm wearing happen to be from the men's section. Maybe shopping in the men's department won't work for every woman, but if you happen to have big feet and a big head (or lots of hair) then you might want to rethink visiting the men's section without your significant other.

Outfit of the Day | My Favorite Sweater

Outfit of the Day | My Favorite Sweater
Do you want to know how excited I am that it finally cooled down in San Diego? I am THIS excited! I have been waiting for the weather to cool down and we're finally experiencing 43ºF (6ºC) weather, which means that I can now update my capsule wardrobe and pull out all my sweaters. My favorite piece in my closet for the past few weeks has been this oversized green sweater from Zara that I picked up at one of their sales about two years ago. The sweater had been worn maybe two times after it was purchased, but I think I've easily worn it five times since the weather started cooling down a few weeks ago. Chunky oversized sweaters are definitely not for everyone since they don't enhance your body, but if you're a fan of the oversized trend then you'll love this. Plus it's cozy AF!

Outfit of the Day | Blush and Rose featuring JORD

We're finally getting some cooler weather in San Diego, so I felt like was finally time to start using one of my favorite blazers in my closet. This blush colored blazer was a piece that I picked up last summer but sadly has barely been worn due to our hot weather. Another rosy item that has been getting some love is my rose gold watch from JORD. In case you're not familiar with the brand, JORD is a contemporary watch company that creates unique and sustainable watches made out of wood. When I first laid eyes on the Sidney series watch, I knew it was for me. Just like myself there's elements in the watch that are quite masculine inspired such as the thick band, but then you have the delicate rose gold to provide a nice contrast. In this post you're going to see how I styled my JORD watch to fit with my minimal tomboy style.

Outfit of the Day | The White T-Shirt

Outfit of the Day | The White T-Shirt
I remember the time when I used to avoid white clothing like the plague. Believe it or not, white clothing used to intimidate me because I assumed that it would get dirty in a snap. They can and will show stains easily, but if you're careful you can go the whole day without getting anything on it. Another reason why white used to intimidate me was because fashion magazines make it out to seem like only slim people can get away with white clothing. When paired with darker pieces, a white top can look very flattering on any body type. Today I'll be showing you how I style a basic loose white t-shirt with some fall-ready black booties and simple Pearl Earrings from Happiness Boutique.

The Summer Fashion Haul

Summer Fashion Haul
Here is part 2 of my mini haul week over on my YouTube channel. Thank to the summer sales I've been able to find a bunch of great wardrobe staples for a fraction of the price. I've picked up a lot of striped items, basic shirts, and even some very versatile sandals which I'm probably going to keep wearing until late fall. This fashion haul is unlike my other hauls I've done in the past because instead of trying to describe the item I'm actually going to show you how each of the items looks on me.

Outfit of the Day | Downtown

Downtown is one of my favorite areas in San Diego because I can get a taste of what it's like in a big city. San Diego is overall a pretty laid back area comprised of various beach cities, Indian reservations, ranches, and a lot of suburbs. I enjoy Downtown a lot because I get a little of the hustle and bustle that I enjoy, there's always interesting characters on the streets, and a variety of buildings for me to admire. To match my surroundings I decided to wear something that is effortlessly cool (well at least I think it looks cool).

Outfit of the Day | Wine Tasting in Temecula

On Sunday the limo company Aall In Limo hosted a couple of San Diego fashion, food, and travel bloggers on one of their wine tours in Temecula. The last time I went to a wine tour I was only a teen so all I got to taste in Napa were sparkling juices. This time around I'm in my 20's and accompanied by some of my great bloggers friends. This is the first post of a little two-part series showing you what we did during the amazing wine tour.

Valentine's Day Outfit Ideas

Valentine's Day is almost here and with that comes the hard decision of figuring out what you're going to wear. You can either go dress up for your significant other if you're planning a romantic night out, or dress down if you're going to be having a casual night or going out with your friends. If I were doing something I'd probably wear the casual look since it has a subtle touch of red, plus it's definitely a lot more "me."

Striped Tops from Day to Night

Since Thanksgiving break I've been talking to the sister duo on YouTube, thepigsandmonkeys, about a collaboration. The collaboration was pushed back over a month due to the holidays, but I'm so happy to finally bring you the collaboration we've been talking about for months now. Elodie, Nathalie, and I are going to show you how you can take a normal striped top from day to night.

Outfit of the Day | Monochromatic

For the month of October the San Diego Style Bloggers blog issued a challenge to come up with monochromatic looks. I honestly was over thinking this and actually trying to plan out a complicated monochromatic look, but this past Sunday the look just sort of happened. I went up to visit my boyfriend this weekend so I didn't end up taking my whole wardrobe and by the last day all I had was black items of clothing. When I looked in the mirror I realized "Hey, I'm wearing head-to-toe black! This is a monochromatic look!"

Get Ready With Me | FWSD Edition

FWSD week over at Laura Neuzeth is now coming to an end with a little "get ready with me" video. When in doubt one can never go wrong with a "get ready with me," plus it was a look that got a lot of compliments at FWSD. Whenever I wear a head wrap and red lips I can't help but feel Chiquita Banana, I know that sounds strange but I wish I could rock a bowl of fruit in my head like her. Silliness aside I hope all of you enjoy my latest "get ready with me" video as much as I did recording and editing it.

Outfit of the Week | Fashion Week San Diego

Are you all ready for the biggest outfit of the day post you'll ever see on this blog? I'll be sharing with you all the outfits I chose to wear to Fashion Week San Diego in one post. Are you ready for this? If so just continue reading!

Outfit of the Day | Viva México

On Monday Mexicans around the world celebrated Mexico's Independence Day! I was lucky enough to have been invited to a party hosted by Don Julio at the Junípero Serra Museum in San Diego which I had never gone to. At the event there were a lot of tacos, tequila, and of course great music courtesy Tijuana's own Nortec Collective. If you want to see more pictures of the event, as well as a little vlog just keep reading.

Outfit of the Day | We got THE BEAT!

On Friday I had the opportunity to attend a blogger event at the cool rocker boutique, The Beat, located in Carlsbad. That was the first time I've ever gone Carlsbad Village area and you know what? It's a pretty cool area. There's lots of restaurants and boutiques which is sure to satisfy the needs of both locals and tourists alike. The Beat definitely stands out  from the other boutiques in Carlsbad Village which tend to cater more to the beachy Californian girl. From the moment I walked in I definitely got a good vibe all thanks to the rad music and decor.

Outfit of the Day | Watts Towers

This past Sunday I got the chance to visit the Watts Towers with my boyfriend. I have to admit I hadn't heard of them since I'm not from the area, but I'm very glad I got to see Simon Rodia's work in person. I honestly couldn't believe that an older man built the towers predominantly by himself and with absolutely no special equipment. Everything from the story to the actual towers was absolutely incredible.
