Buster's Bite | Merrick Backcountry Grain-Free Hearty Beef Stew Canned Dog Food

Merrick Backcountry Grain-Free Hearty Beef Stew Canned Dog Food
You were introduced to Bowie's Corner a few days ago, and now I'm going to introduce you to Buster's Bite. Buster is my 12 year-old chow chow, so you can rest assured that he's the best candidate to test out dog food. He's a picky guy too, there's been a few times where my family has purchased food for him that he has flat out rejected. Out of the food that he's tried out, his favorite is canned dog food that has chunks of meat and gravy. I was not expecting Chewy to send out a bonus item in my review package, but when I saw the case of Merrick Backcountry Grain-Free Hearty Beef Stew Canned Dog Food I knew Buster would be the best candidate to try out new dog food.

I have to be completely honest when saying that I had never heard of Merrick in my life, but after doing some research I found out that the brand makes all-natural and grain-free dog food. When I looked at the list of ingredients I noticed that there's a high percentage of food that I eat in this dog food, such as: beef, beef broth, potatoes, peas, carrots, eggs, and apples. This food also has vitamins such as vitamin E, B12, A, Calcium, and Zinc. Recognizing the large majority of ingredients in this food made me feel better about giving it to Buster. Since he's an older dog, I want to make sure that he's getting fed things that will benefit to his health.

When you take out the food, you'll notice large chunks of beef that resemble meatballs. I don't know about you, but sometimes canned dog food look and smells very strange. I personally dislike seeing very gelatinous food that smells savory, so I was glad to see that this resembles human food and smells like beef.

As for Buster, he really enjoyed the Merrick Backcountry Grain-Free Hearty Beef Stew Canned Dog Food. The first time I gave it to him he stood in front of the plate and sniffed it for a minute or two because he immediately noticed that this was something new. Once he had his first bite, he just kept going until he cleaned the entire plate. That's always a good indicator of Buster liking something.

As for the price, a case of 12 cans of Merrick Backcountry Grain-Free Hearty Beef Stew Canned Dog Food will run you $31.98, which in my opinion is quite pricey. I don't know whether I would feed him a can of this a day because if I did I would be spending close to $80 on just canned dog food. I will certainly be a lot more careful of what I feed my dogs though, and I will be switching at least his dry food to something more natural.

Overall, I do recommend the Merrick Backcountry Grain-Free Hearty Beef Stew Canned Dog Food because of the great ingredients and nutrients that it contains for adult dogs. It is a pricier dog food, but if you want what's best for your dog then I think it's worth it. Plus, this canned dog food earned Buster's paw of approval!
