June 2014 Playlist

June 2014 Playlist
Summer is now here and despite the fact that it's my least favorite season, I still want to make the most of it. I got the idea for this playlist from seeing the San Diego bay whenever I drive up to the train station to either go up to see my boyfriend or pick him up. I may not like the beach too much but the bay is another thing. There's something about seeing these tall buildings right next to the water that I just really love. To me summer is fun, carefree, and chill so I made a playlist that would reflect exactly that.

Top 5 Fragrances for Summer

Top 5 Fragrances for Summer
I don't know if you may know this, but apart from being a lipstick and nail polish addict I am also a perfume addict. I love collecting perfume, showering myself in perfume, and also smelling perfumes every time I go into a store. Yes, I'm that girl spritzing a bunch of those paper things at Sephora. For this latest top 5 I'm going to share with you some of my favorites fragrances for the summer. I tried my best to a nice variety of scents and also price range because I know a $70 bottle of perfume isn't exactly affordable.

First Impression | Julep Plié Wand

Julep Plié Wand
When I showed the Julep Plié Wand in one of my newest hauls I got some requests to film a first impression review on it. Julep refers to their Plié Wand as "a revolutionary nail polishing tool" which made me very skeptical. The very long wand with a swivel feature is supposed to make it easier to paint your nails. The Plié Wand is designed to fit any Julep nail polish and they include two brushes for non-Julep nail polishes. Now that we have that out of the way, let's get to the review!

Life Lately

It has been a few months since my last lifestyle post and I thought I would check back with you because there has been some changes. Your homegirl got a (part-time) job, has been trying to be more spontaneous, and is overall enjoying her summer. As much as I have enjoyed these changes they have also sucked a bit of my energy and I felt so out of the loop with the blogging world for a few weeks. It's been hard trying to find a balance between everything but I'm hopefully going to get there soon.

MAC x Lorde Pure Heroine Lipstick

MAC x Lorde Pure Heroine Lipstick
When I first heard about the MAC x Lorde collaboration I got super excited! I don't consider myself Lorde's #1 fan but I do enjoy her and her music quite a bit. I admire people that are opinionated and boy is she opinionated! I also find that her style is very unique and minimal- you won't get a lot of frills and color with Lorde. I'm not going to lie though, I was a bit disappointed with the collaboration because it only has two products: a lipstick and a liquid eyeliner (which is in the permanent collection). Since I don't have any purple lipsticks I decided to go ahead and pick up Pure Heroine which is a beautiful purple shade.

Tutorial | Purple Look Using MAC Eyeshadows

Purple Look Using MAC Eyeshadows
After my 4 or More Tag video where I showed my large MAC eyeshadow collection I was asked by a subscriber to film a tutorial using my purple eyeshadows. Today I'll be showing you a simple way to wear purple eyeshadow without it being obnoxious. The overall look is very soft and pretty, and the best thing is that it can easily be recreated with the purple eyeshadows in your collection.

If you've ever wanted a lipstick that has great staying power, glides smoothly, never dries up, and comes in various vibrant and flattering colors then you really need to check out the Bite Beauty Luminous Crème Lipsticks. If you're a bit scared of splurging on a $24 lipstick then this little duo let's you try out two Bite Beauty lipsticks for only $12 which to me is a great deal.

Review | Bubu Professional Eyebrow Mascara

Bubu Professional Eyebrow MascaraMy eyebrow product collection is rapidly growing thanks to the need to have a strong brow game. As much as I enjoy doing my brows, sometimes I'm too lazy to fill them in precisely. When I don't have the time or feel too lazy to go in with a brow pencil I've been using this very affordable eyebrow mascara from Born Pretty. This looks pretty much like a mascara except for the fact the wand and bristles are small enough to fit pretty much any eyebrow shape.

Growing Out My Pixie Cut- Month 3

Growing Out My Pixie Cut
It's now been 3 months since I decided to grow out my pixie so it's time for another update! I'll be showing you how the growing process has been going, talk about some hair changes, and tell you about some of my plans. I will also be showing you one of my favorite hairstyles to do when I'm in a hurry or just want the bang portion out of my face. The hairstyle shouldn't take you more than 2 minutes and it's super simple, trust me. The hairstyle will also work for those of you with longer hair as well, I know this because I used to wear my hair in that same way a few years ago. Nevertheless let's get to the newest pixie cut update!

My Summer + Smooth Legs Routine

#MySummerLook
We're only days away from the official start of summer, but here in San Diego it's been summer since 2014 began. You always have to be summer ready around here which means having a nice manicure/pedicure, silky legs, and always wearing some form of SPF. I know many resort to tanning during the summer, but I'm a naturally pale person so I have to step up my SPF game during the hottest months of the year. In this blog post I've teamed up with #CollectiveBias to share #MySummerLook by using Sally Hansen and Energizer products that can be easily found at Target. There's also a very exciting Instagram contest where $2,250 in Target gift cards will be given away so you can get your own summer ready look.

Empty Products #5

Empty Products
It's been a while since my last empty products video but I've finally accumulated enough products to make another video. I have a little bit of everything in this video because of the amount of products in my "vinyl is forever bag." I have skincare, body care, makeup, and even hair product. Since there's a lot of products I made sure to quickly describe each and every product, as well as mention if I would repurchase it or not. It's a long video but it's like 15+ reviews all in one video.

Budget-Friendly Eyeshadows

Budget-Friendly Eyeshadows
Recently I've been wanting to expand my eyeshadow collection and get some shades that I normally wouldn't go for. I know a lot of people are loving the pinks and warmer colors but I wouldn't want to spend $54 on a palette that I personally wouldn't get a lot of use from so I did some research and decided to go the budget-friendly route. I ended up spending $31.80 on eyeshadows from Makeup Geek and Coastal Scents that I knew would push me out of my neutral comfort zone. Here are the shades I ended up going for and how they look when swatched. There will be a full review on both brands in the coming weeks.

First Impression | POPSUGAR Must Have Box

POPSUGAR Must Have Box
Nowadays there's a subscription box for nearly everything but the POPSUGAR Must Have box is the first one I know of that combines beauty, fashion, home, fitness, and food items. The box is $39.95 a month which makes it one of the pricier subscription services, but they are known to include full-size products and premium items. I was so excited when I received this box because not only was it big but it was also really heavy. I didn't know what to expect from this box because I'm not very familiar with the service so everything was a surprise to me. If you're interested in seeing what I got in the Must Have box and what I think about it, then stick around to watching my latest first impression review.

Review | Jordana Blush Powder

Jordana Blush Powder
Jordana is one of the drugstore makeup brands that is so incredibly underrated. There isn't anything flashy about the brand- no fancy packaging, no celebrity spokesperson, or elaborate displays. This is a brand that can be found in the smallest areas in select Walgreens and Kmart locations. If you're anything like me, then you have probably walked by Jordana plenty of times because nothing really stands out. There are some amazing hidden gems in their collection and today I want to introduce you to their blushes.

My Everyday Makeup Look

My Everyday Makeup Look
My everyday makeup look has to be quick, simple, and easy. Today I'll be sharing with you how I get my "signature" look. The products do rotate because of my big makeup selection but the overall look is the same. I'm on a one eyeshadow, mascara, and bright lips type of girl. This look should take less than 15 minutes to do so it would also double as a great makeup look for anyone going to school or work.

Outfit of the Day | Relaxed

Outfit of the Day
If you've been following my blog for a bit then you'll know that my style is extremely basic and comfortable. I love basic pieces like this new polka dot top from Tommy Hilfiger because I can wear them multiple ways. I actually picked up this top at Costco which may sound a little hard to believe but they've been carrying some really cute items recently. Nevertheless I'm going to be showing you yet another relaxed outfit idea that is perfect for going out to the mall or for a little photo shoot on a very windy day.

First Impression | Tarte Amazonian Clay Airbrush Foundation

Tarte Amazonian Clay Airbrush Foundation
I've been wanting to try this foundation ever since I saw Estée's (essiebutton) video a few months ago. Being a mineral foundation lover and seeing how great her skin looked made me finally splurge on the Tarte Amazonian Clay Airbrush Foundation. The foundation is enriched with Tarte's famous Amazonian clay which provides benefits for each specific skin type. Tarte's Amazonian Clay Airbrush Foundation is also talc-free, waterproof, and provides 12-hours coverage. In my latest first impression I'm going to be putting this foundation to the test by taking it out on a hot San Diego day.

Best Blushes for Oily Skin

Best Blushes for Oily Skin
When you have oily skin blushes either tend to fade rather quickly or make you look greasier. Blushes with too much shimmer will enhance the shininess on your cheeks which is why I don't wear shimmery blushes too often. Other times I will apply a blush and have it completely disappear a few hours later. Finding a long-lasting blush can be hard but I have found four options that definitely have my stamp of approval.

Nails of the Day | White On

Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear Nail Color in White On
White nail polish is one of those colors that may be a little intimidating to some. It is one of the most plain colors, but on your nails white can become quite a bold statement. If you have fair skin like myself then white nail polish can instantly make your hands look a bit tan. White nail polish can be used on a very modern manicure, French tips, or nail art. I think it's safe to say that white nail polish is definitely in this summer, at least in my book.
