September 2015 Favorites

September 2015 Favorites
I can't believe that September is gone! This month went by so fast thanks to Kaaboo and getting sick, not once but twice. There's nothing worse than catching a cold when it's over 80ºF because the last thing you want to do is get some soup. In this monthly favorites video I'm going to be sharing a few high-end staples, as well as an incredible eyeshadow that costs only $3. No one is going to believe the brand because if you were to see just the swatch I swear that half of you would think it's something by Charlotte Tilbury or Jouer.

Review | derma e Purifying Toner Mist and Youth Serum

Derma E Purifying Toner Mist and Youth Serum
You may recall that I reviewed the Evenly Radiant Brightening Serum by derma e a few months ago and today I'm going to review a few more products from this natural skincare brand. I've been using both the Purifying Toner Mist and the Purifying Youth Serum for well over a month now, I actually started using them right before I went to Outside Lands so it's been a while. The new Purifying range is designed for people with normal to oily skin who live in a city, it honestly makes me think like this product was made with me in mind. The Purifying products are meant to detox and reboot your skin daily, so it won't appear dull due to the micropollutants in the urban air. I have to give you a small teaser: One of these products has become a new staple in my skincare routine, but the other one I didn't get along with.

The Walt Disney Family Museum and Golden Gate Bridge

I swear this will be the last post you'll see of my trip to San Francisco. I know I've shared quite a bit from this trip, but it's because I really enjoyed myself. The last day of San Francisco was a very special one because I finally got to visit The Walt Disney Family Museum and the Golden Gate Bridge. Believe it or not, it took 25 years for me to walk on the bridge. And you may not know this about me but I'm terrified of heights, to the point that my knees will give up on me if I get too scared. Being able to walk on the bridge was a huge thing for me, it didn't get rid of my fear of heights but I can finally say that I was able to do it (even if it took me a while). To see a whole new side of me, you'll have to watch today's vlog!

San Diego Beauty Bloggers

After months of wanting to start a beauty blogger and vlogger community in San Diego, I finally sat down and did it. I've been so incredibly thankful for all the opportunities and friendships that have come my way because of San Diego Style Bloggers and I want to do something similar for the beauty community. While the style community has become a lot more tight-knit, the beauty community is still very distant. I'm constantly finding new beauty bloggers both big and small and with this community I'm hoping to bring everyone together.

Outfit of the Day | The White T-Shirt

Outfit of the Day | The White T-Shirt
I remember the time when I used to avoid white clothing like the plague. Believe it or not, white clothing used to intimidate me because I assumed that it would get dirty in a snap. They can and will show stains easily, but if you're careful you can go the whole day without getting anything on it. Another reason why white used to intimidate me was because fashion magazines make it out to seem like only slim people can get away with white clothing. When paired with darker pieces, a white top can look very flattering on any body type. Today I'll be showing you how I style a basic loose white t-shirt with some fall-ready black booties and simple Pearl Earrings from Happiness Boutique.

September 2015 Ipsy Bag Opening

September 2015 Ipsy Bag Opening
This past weekend was the Kaaboo music festival in San Diego, and although I don't have much of a voice I still sat down to open my Ipsy bag with you. My bag this month arrived very late into the month but I have to say that the bag was overall a big hit with me. The bag itself is also quite nice and gooooold (you know how much I love gold). Oh, and I got repeat items this month too! Last month I got two eyeliners and this month I guess I needed two body lotions. Thanks Ipsy!

Outside Lands Diary | Vlog + Pictures

I am finally done catching up with all the Outside Lands 2015 coverage. What can I say? I think I got carried away this year, but it was so much fun recording videos before and during the festival. In this blog post you'll find some of my concert photography, as well as a vlog. I tried my best to capture as much from the festival and I really think that I managed to capture my experience very well. I hope you enjoy both the pictures and the vlog, and next week you'll be seeing the Kaaboo festival coverage.

Q&A #1: YouTube, College, and Body Image

My very first Q&A is finally here and it's a very long one. As my first Q&A (in a series of many, I hope) I thought it would be fitting to answer every question I received. Yes, I answered all of your questions. The video is 30 minutes long but if you've been curious about the woman behind the blog, then this video is for you. Some of the topics I talked about were YouTube, blogging, college, and body image. You all had amazing questions and honestly I could have kept talking and talking, but the video was already long enough. Before you watch the video I want to thank you all for your great questions and I truly hope that you enjoy the video.

Get Ready with Me: Outside Lands Music Festival

Get Ready with Me: Outside Lands Music Festival
Although I'm mentally getting ready for the Kaaboo music festival in San Diego, I wanted to share with you this look I wore to Outside Lands last month. I recorded this little Get Ready with Me on the third and last day of Outside Lands. While the look itself isn't anything crazy, I did decide to add some metallic tattoos to jazz things up. Plus, I think a touch of gold was more than appropriate considering Elton John was the headliner that night. I totally missed my opportunity to rock a 90's Elton John concert shirt though! Ugh, I'll have to remember to dig through my collection of concert t-shirts next time.

Daiso Grand Opening in San Diego

Daiso Grand Opening in San Diego
This past weekend was the grand opening of the newest Daiso in San Diego! If you follow my vlog channel, then you know how much I love Daiso. And how can you not love it? You can find everything from scrapbook supplies to every nail polish color in the rainbow inside the massive store. To top it off, almost everything is $1.50. Yes, you read that correctly $1.50! That means that you can have a (semi) guilt-free shopping spree whenever you go to the store. I actually have my boyfriend to blame for my Daiso weakness, he started taking me to the stores in Orange County earlier this year but now I finally have one that's closer to me. The city of San Diego now has two Daiso locations: one in Mira Mesa (which is really far away from me) and the newest one in Kearny Mesa. I took some pictures from the grand opening this Saturday that I want to share with all of you.

Time-Saving Body Care Routine

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #ApplyBeforeYouDry #CollectiveBias
Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer #ApplyBeforeYouDry
Let me make a confession: I'm super lazy when it comes to body care. While I absolutely love spending my time applying my makeup, applying lotion is not one of my favorite activities. In fact I only do it when I remember or when my skin is feeling extremely dry. Oops! I feel like I've let you all down a little since you all probably think I'm obsessed with everything and anything body care related, but I'm not. The reality is that a skin care, body care, and makeup routine can all be time be very time consuming, but I was recently introduced to a fancy new product by Jergens that has helped me cut some time from my less than perfect body care routine. Yes, I can finally wave goodbye to wasting time rubbing my moisturizer in and can use that extra time to perfect my winged eyeliner. Hey, I have my priorities! If you're anything like me, then you'll want to find out my time-saving and fuzz-free body care routine for lazy girls such as myself.

Wedding and Silent Disco | #Snapvlogs

This is only my third #Snapvlog and I have to say that I'm really enjoying this series on my vlog channel. My blog was definitely getting a little too serious for my liking and for some reason I stopped sharing my vlogs on here. While I love reviewing and talking about beauty, I adore being silly in real life. If I had to pick my favorite thing about myself it would definitely be my silliness, even though I tend to hide whenever I feel uncomfortable or don't know a person really well (introverts will definitely understand). In this #Snapvlog you'll get to see how I don't know how to dance at weddings or silent discos. I'm unfortunately one of the stiffest Mexicans around and it's something that I love making fun of because it's 100% the truth. I can't dance to save my life!

Outfit of the Day | The Drop

Outfit of the Day | The Drop
In my last outfit of the day post I had mentioned my capsule wardrobe plans, well I did it! I am not partaking in the Project 333 Challenge, but I did declutter my closet quite a lot. I used to have over 200 pieces in my closet and I condensed it to less than 60 clothing pieces. I now feel very comfortable with the number of clothing pieces that I own, but that means that you'll be seeing some pieces over and over on the blog. I'm sure that most of you won't mind since realistically speaking we're all repeat offenders, and that's totally ok! In this blog post I'm going to show you one of my favorite outfits that I've worn this summer which happens to be a great transition piece as we're heading to fall (although it doesn't even feel that way here). This post also features the beautiful marble drop earrings from Happiness Boutique which is an online clothing and accessories shop based in Berlin. The shop offers affordable classic, minimal, bohemian, and trendy jewelry for any type of occasion and personal style.

Room Makeover | #Snapvlogs

RIP yellow walls (2012-2015). My room got a complete makeover a few weeks ago and while I was absent from my blog/YouTube, I was Snapchatting the whole thing. My paint covered hair got documented, and so did my really sweaty face because it was really hot outside. Redoing my room wasn't easy whatsoever but I'm so happy with how my room turned out. You'll be seeing a formal room tour later on this month but you can see snippets of how it currently looks like in this vlog.

ASK ME QUESTIONS!

Many of you have asked for a Q&A video and I'm finally getting around to doing one. I love watching these videos on YouTube myself, so it's not very surprising that this video is one of my most requested. For my first Q&A I want my YouTube viewers and blog readers to submit questions! There will be no special hashtag or Snapchat videos this time around. All you have to do is leave a question in the comments below and I may pick your question.

What's In My Music Festival Bag?

One of the most popular videos to record for beauty/style YouTubers is the classic "What's in my bag?" video. I've even done a few myself but I decided to add a little twist this time around. Why not show you what I'm took to a music festival AT the music festival? Yes, I asked my boyfriend to record me take out all the items out my backpack while I was waiting for the next act to go up. I got a lot of weird stares, but it's ok because frankly I'm used to them by now. The video was recorded on the third and final day of Outside Lands, a.k.a. the day I camped out in the front of the stage to see Elton John. That should explain why I had so much food in my bag, but I have absolutely no excuse for all the lip products.

Review | Butter London Bloody Brilliant Lip Crayon

Butter London Bloody Brilliant Lip Crayons
I adore Butter London nail polishes but recently I've been adding some of their makeup products to my makeup rotation. One of the most recent releases are the Bloody Brilliant Lip Crayons which are indeed bloody brilliant if I may say so. The collection is comprised of seven different shades, all which have a glossy finish. I know what you're thinking, you hate lip products that have to be sharpened. Don't worry, I tend to dislike them as well but what if I told you that you that these are the exception? Trust me, it seems like the Bloody Brilliant Lip Crayons were made with the girl on the go in mind.

San Francisco Photo Diary

San Francisco Photo Diary
San Francisco is easily one of my favorite cities in the world, and it's quite an underrated one in my opinion. If I ever move out of San Diego, I would love to move up north to the Bay Area. Not only is the weather more my thing (as you all know I despite hot weather), but there's so much culture here. The music scene here is what my dreams are made of, and let's not forget about the copious amounts of incredible food establishments here. As a public transportation aficionado, San Francisco easily has the best public transportation in the state of California which is very reminiscent of the efficient Parisian public transport (despite the fact that some French people would think otherwise). In this blog post I'll be sharing some of my favorite shots I took with my DSLR during my trip to San Francisco.
