May 2014 Playlist

may 2014 playlist
There's so much more to Canadian music than Justin Bieber and Drake. This month's playlist is inspired by our neighbor's up north because why not? Canada is an amazing country! I visited Vancouver in 2010 and instantly fell in love with the city. My trip to Vancouver still sits very high on the list of cool cities that I've traveled to. And if I could live anywhere else in North America I would choose to live in Vancouver, that's how much I loved that city. So here's a playlist filled with the best that Canada has to offer.

May 2014 Favorites

May favorites
It's time for my May favorites! This past month I was really enjoying eye products as you can see from the picture above. I discovered two great drugstore palettes, a very surprising eyeshadow primer, and an eyeliner that stays put all day. Apart from eye products I really enjoy items that are very easy to wear and give me the option to either wear them sheerly or make them more opaque. I'm all about versatile and easy to use products as you all know by now.

Isadora Store Opening

Isadora San Diego
Last week I was invited to attend the Isadora grand opening in San Diego. I know a lot of you may not know about this store so I would like to introduce you to one of Latin America's most popular store. Isadora has over 135 stores in the main cities in Latin America and now they're opening stores in Southern California and hopefully across the country. The store offers classic, trendy, and feminine pieces at very affordable prices which I really enjoyed. Discover more about Isadora in this blog post and watch the vlog to see how the store looked inside.

Review | L'Oréal Voluminous Miss Manga Mascara

L'Oréal Voluminous Miss Manga Mascara
I was impatiently waiting for the launch of the L'Oréal Voluminous Miss Manga Mascara for months now! I had first heard about the mascara through British beauty bloggers and despite the mixed reviews I still wanted to get my hands on it. I'm a huge fan of the regular Voluminous mascara and I've tried other variations of the Voluminous mascaras which I've liked as well. This mascara has a very interesting brush which is meant to build volume from top to bottom and give you a wide-eyed manga look.

Spring Beauty Haul

spring beauty haul
I told you that there was going to be another haul and here it is! In today's haul I'm going to show you the stuff I've picked up at Sephora, MAC, Ulta, Yves Rocher, Lush, and last but not least my Julep Maven box. There's a lot of things to get through and all of them happen to be very spring-y, so if you're interested in seeing what I have picked up please stay tuned to watch my newest video.

Tips for a Longer Lasting Mani and Pedi

tips for a longer lasting manicure
There's nothing worse than painting your nails and then discovering that it has somehow chipped on the second day. I've been in that position plenty of times and you never know whether to suck it up or repaint your chipped nails again. In this blog post I've teamed up with Bellus Academy's Director of Spa Nails, Trudy Reynolds, to bring you some tips to make your manis and pedis last a whole lot longer.

Tropical Gradient Nail Art

Tropical Gradient Nail Art
I'm closing drugstore week with a very simple nail art that reminds me of everything that is tropical. You don't need to be drawing on little palm trees to make them tropical, all you need is some green nail polishes and a yellow one. This manicure is very easy and relatively inexpensive since we're using nail polishes from the drugstore and one cosmetic sponge to create the gradient effect.

Top 5 Drugstore Face Products

Top 5 Drugstore Face Products
Today I have even more drugstore products to share with you! In the latest installment of my "top 5" series I'll be sharing with you some of my favorite face products found at your local drugstore. I tried to pick products that I haven't spoken about before or that haven't been in another top 5 video. If you're from a European country, don't worry because I have you covered! I made sure to include some items that I know are available in certain European drugstores in my list.

Unsung Heroes at the Drugstore

Unsung Heroes at the Drugstore
We all know that there's some great products sold at the drugstore. While some products get a lot of rave reviews, there's some amazing products that not too many people talk about. Today I'm going to be sharing with you some of my favorite products that I haven't heard too much about. If you're looking for some new items to try from the drugstore then just keep reading.

Drugstore Haul

There's everything from nail polishes, to eyeshadows, and evcn tweezers. Hopefully this will guide you on your next trip to your drugstore. PS. Spring Nail Colors from Walgreens

I am a member of the Collective Bias® Social Fabric® Community. This shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper amplification for #CollectiveBias and its advertiser. #WalgreensBeauty
Spring Nails from Walgreens
I'm kicking off drugstore makeup week with a blog post about nail polish! Nail polishes are one of my many weaknesses and nothing excites me more than bright nail colors! I wear nail polish year round but I really step up my nail game in spring and summer, and thankfully I can always keep up with the spring nail trends at Walgreens. Walgreens has a large selection nail polishes ranging from drugstore brands to more expensive brands. Today thanks to #CollectiveBias and #WalgreensBeauty, I'm going to be showing you five Revlon nail polishes which are perfect for any spring and summer manis and pedis.

MAC Spice It Up Lipstick

MAC Spice It Up
MAC's Spice It Up lipstick may only be a week old in my collection but I've worn it 5 times already with no signs of stopping any time soon. It's not a color that screams spring and summer, but it is certainly a shade that has my name written all over it. You all know by now that I love red lipstick but this is no ordinary red. Spice It Up can be best described as a wearable muted red. I know some of you might be confused with the term "muted red" but this lipstick is so different from every red lipstick in my collection and I have a lot.

Growing Out My Pixie Cut- Month 2

Growing Out My Pixie Cut
So it's officially one year since I got a pixie and 2 months since I decided I wanted to grow out my pixie. Today I'll be talking a little about how the growing out process has been, what I've been doing with my hair, and also show you the progress. Also can you see how curly it gets now? HELLO TEXTURE! I'm still learning how to work with it since sometimes it makes me feel like a poodle. (Also please excuse the pictures, I didn't notice that my tripod casted a shadow until I was uploading them at night. Oops!)

Review | Rimmel Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara

Rimmel Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara
A few weeks ago you saw me use this mascara in my Alexa Chung tutorial and today I'll be reviewing it for you. Whenever I review mascaras I like to test them out over a few weeks because more often than not I start liking mascaras once they begin to dry up. The Scandaleyes Retro Glam mascara is Rimmel's latest mascara and boy are they promoting it! I've seen everything from the TV ads to the print ads. It' just one of those things that you can't really escape. While I love Rimmel products, I can safely say that mascaras are not their forte.

Lip Product Addict Tag

Lip Product Addict Tag
Are you guys even surprised that I'm doing yet another lip product tag? I'm sure you're not. When I saw the Lip Product Addict Tag video created by two of my favorite bloggers (Amelia Liana and Estée) I knew I had to do it. In this tag I'll be sharing everything from my favorite lip balm to some rather interesting lip products. Not everyone had a black lip gloss, let me put that out there.

Face of the Day | The Muted Red Lip

face of the day
Last week I went to MAC to drop off some empties and get two products through the Back to MAC program. I went to MAC with a list of lipsticks that I wanted to swatch but I ended up gravitating to a color that I haven't heard many talk about. It isn't a bright shade for spring and summer but it's definitely a color that I'll be wearing a lot. This red lipstick proves that not all red lipstick are created equal. Say hello to the muted red lip!

How to Apply Blush, Bronzer, and Highlight

How to Apply Blush, Bronzer, and Highlight
In today's #BeautyBasics video I'm going to be showing you how I apply blush, bronzer, and highlight. It seems like an easy concept for those who already know makeup but I remember not knowing how to use bronzer or highlight a few years ago. What brushes do you need to use? Are contouring and bronzer the same thing? How do you highlight? I will answer all those questions and more in the video. Grab your favorite cheek products and a couple of brushes because you're going to be learning how to add life to your face.

Review | Milani Eye Tech Liquid Eyeliner

Milani Eye Tech Liquid Eyeliner
I love a good liquid eyeliner pen but I noticed that many would dry up within a month. Whether you're paying drugstore prices or high end prices, it never feels good to throw away a product after a month of use. A viewer recommended me the Milani Eye Tech Liquid Eyeliner a few months ago and I decided to give it a go. If you saw my April Favorites then you will know how this review will pan out, but if you didn't see it all you have to know is that I really love this eyeliner.

Face of the Day | Pink and Lilac

face of the day
You all know by now that I'm a neutral type of girl but lately I've been really loving really feminine colors like lilac and dare I say... pink. While I'm still not a fan of pink clothing, I have definitely been loving pink blushes and lip products. I know, pinks and lilacs for spring? Groundbreaking. For me this is a departure from my taupe comfort zone and I can't wait to start playing more with color, even if I opt for sheer formulas.

Review | Yves Rocher Sebo Végétal

If you remember a few months ago I did a review on a toner from Yves Rocher's Sebo Specific range, well that range is long gone and it has been replaced with the new Sebo Végétal line. The Sebo Végétal skincare range is specifically for those who have combination or oily skin. Yves Rocher developed a line that features the purifying power of Baikal powder which is meant to restore your skin's balance and control oil. I've been testing out the products for over a month, so by now I feel like I can let you know how I feel about each and every product in the range. There will also be a giveaway in this blog post and one lucky person will get to try out three products from the Sebo Végétal range.

Nails of the Day | Roar

L.A. Girls Color Pop Nail Polish in Roar
I am currently into really bright nails and when I saw this color at the stores I was like "I need this!" This is the brightest cobalt blue polish I've been able to find at the drugstore but when I started applying it I noticed something strange. This wasn't any regular polish... this was a textured polish! I had no idea this was a textured polish, I didn't even know they were still "in." Textured polish isn't for everyone but it does help your nail polish last longer which is always a good thing in my book.

4 or More Tag

4 or more tag
I've been seeing the 4 or More Tag floating around YouTube and I decided to tag myself. I found the tag very interesting because you really get an idea of what someone really likes. If you buy a product four or more times then it's definitely a product that you stand by. **WARNING** There's a lot of lip products, but I'm sure that won't be a surprise to anyone.

Review | SelectSpecs.com

SelectSpecs.com
Glasses have come such a long way since I started wearing them 8 years ago. I remember when my parents would spend over $150 on my frames and prescription lenses. Regular glasses were not cheap and fashionable glasses were even more expensive. Last year I was introduced to the world of affordable eyewear and I learned that you don't have to pay much to get good quality and fashionable glasses. When I was asked by SelectSpecs.com if I wanted to review a pair of glasses from their budget friendly line I said yes! And when I say budget friendly I mean that these glasses won't cost more than $45 with prescription... I know it sounds crazy but it's true. If you're a glasses wearer then you won't want to miss this review.

How to Blend Eyeshadow #BeautyBasics

How to Blend Eyeshadow
Welcome to the first official #BeautyBasics video! This was the video that you voted for on the blog poll last week. Thank you to everyone who voted on the blog poll! Make sure to vote on the newest blog poll which is located on the right column. For this first video I'm going to show you how to blend eyeshadows. It sounds like it's an easy thing (and it is) but I still remember how bad I was at blending when I started experimenting with makeup. Blending is very easy but it requires some effort on your part because unfortunately there's no such thing as an eyeshadow that just blends out by itself. So grab yourself an eyeshadow palette and your fluffiest brushes because you're heading to "blending 101."
