Why Did You Cut Your Hair?

The number one question I get because of my pixie cut is "why did you cut your hair?" People automatically become curious when a woman decides to cut her hair short because in society hair is very important. I know in the Mexican culture, hair is considered extremely important and one of the things that defines femininity. In this latest video I'm going to be tackling some of the most frequently asked questions and comments that I've been hearing a lot since I cut my hair in May. One does become annoyed when constantly being placed in a position where you have to defend a simple choice you made, so this is the video where I'll be addressing how I feel about the not so nice things that come along with having short hair. Hopefully you will get a better understanding of what it's like for girls with short hair or maybe even relate to this.

Wish List #3: Tutti Frutti

Tutti Frutti
In Italian tutti frutti means "all fruit" but everyone knows it better as the infectious Little Richard song. As you may know by now, I have a severe case of tangerine fever and the only prescription for that is a healthy dose of tangerine colored lip products and nail polish. Apart from tangerine, I'm also loving muted peach and rich pomegranate shades. In my latest wish list I'm going to show you some fruity inspired beauty products that I've been craving for recently.

January Favorites

First monthly favorites video of 2014! Making new discoveries is always great but sometimes we tend to forget about the products we already own. January was a month of rediscovering products in my makeup collection. From highlight products to a foundation that used to be hard to work with, I'm going to be showing you a variety of products I've been loving in my latest video.

January 2014 Playlist

If you happen to be living under a rock then let me inform you that the French house duo and music geniuses, Daft Punk, were the big winners of the 2014 Grammys taking such honors as Record and Album of the Year. As a huge fan of them, I was very happy to see the academy finally honor a band that has been making innovative music for over 20 years. To honor them I've decided to kick off 2014 with a playlist filled with songs by French artists that have an incredible passion for music which comes through in their music.

San Diego Central Library

When I moved from Tijuana to San Diego one of the things I was most fascinated about with American culture were libraries. In Tijuana there really isn't this library culture, in fact my school didn't encourage my classmates to read anything but the Bible and school textbooks. We were being fed information that my Catholic school would approve of. Once I moved to San Diego and started going to a public school, it just opened my eyes to the wonderful foreign world that was the library and reading books for fun.

MY BIGGEST HAUL EVER!

It is finally time for me to show you all of the things I hauled during December and January. I did quite a bit of damage but good thing both my birthday and Christmas are in December so I usually end up with quite a bit of shopping money by the time the sales begin. In this haul I have a little bit of everything from drugstore items, to beauty tools, and even some high end products. I'm a bit proud and ashamed at the same time at how many products I have in this beauty... can I use the whole "being a beauty blogger" excuse for this haul?

The Concealer Roundup

If you'd tell me that I could only choose 5 makeup products to own for the rest of my life one of them would certainly be a concealer. Concealers aren't just for covering up blemishes anymore. Some illuminate, others cover up redness, and then there are others that even treat darkness. Concealers can easily be used to give you the appearance that you actually got 8 hours of sleep, or that you have flawless skin.

First At-Home Gel Manicure

On Sunday I got my first experience with a gel manicure. While I was out with my godfather and the family, my goddaughter began telling me about her gel manicure kit. I've never tried it so I asked her if we could have a mini manicure session at her house, she of course said yes. She had her own little kit with a set of four polishes to choose from. I honestly thought that it wouldn't be a big deal since I always paint my nails but boy was I wrong. My first try with a DIY gel manicure was a fail, without a doubt. Lesson learned, gel polish is not the same as regular polish!

Striped Tops from Day to Night

Since Thanksgiving break I've been talking to the sister duo on YouTube, thepigsandmonkeys, about a collaboration. The collaboration was pushed back over a month due to the holidays, but I'm so happy to finally bring you the collaboration we've been talking about for months now. Elodie, Nathalie, and I are going to show you how you can take a normal striped top from day to night.

Venissimo Cheese

I never quite  got around to sharing my new year resolutions with you but while pretty much everyone was making the same resolution of losing weight, I was making more creative resolutions. One of my resolutions was to get back into photography. Little known fact, I've been into photography and collecting digital, film, and instant cameras since high school. I would literally take my DSLR and look for inspiration everywhere, but for some reason I just stopped recently. This year I plan to take you around places here in San Diego, Tijuana, Orange County, and Los Angeles as part of the weekly lifestyle post. We're starting off the weekly lifestyle posts with a magical trip to a cheese shop in San Diego called Venissimo Cheese.

My Eyelash Extensions Experience

This is the last post in my little eyelash extensions series. You first saw me review Blink Lash Boutique, then show you how the procedure is like, and now I'm going to be telling you about my experience. In this video you'll get to hear what I thought of the experience, how my lashes are doing now, and if I think they're worth the price.

Pixie Cut Tips from a Hairstylist

When you have a pixie you naturally get asked a lot of questions from what products to use, to how to style it. I am no hair professional, and it's taken a while for me to be able to give you hair tips since it's really not my forte. For that reason I decided to ask someone who knows a thing or two about hair. San Diego based beauty school Bellus Academy recently announced that one of their students, Terrell Mitchell, was just named the grand prize winner of Project Runway’s Photo Challenge. I was fortunate get the chance to ask the Project Runway's Photo Challenge winner about some of his pixie cut tips and tricks, and here's what he had to say!

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish

Like I told you in my latest face of the day post, I've been obsessed with the Mac Mineralize Skinfinishes recently. If you're not familiar with these, they are baked powders with a luminous finish. Mineralize Skinfinishes can be used as a highlight, blush, all over powder, eyeshadow, and even as a body illuminator. They come in a variety of shades and finishes to suit your need. Some tend to give you a very fine sheen, while other have a more metallic finish to them for a more dramatic look.

Getting Eyelash Extensions

I already wrote about my experience at Blink Lash Boutique but now I'm going to show you how it was like. I'm going to show you how the lashes are applied and tell you a little about lash extensions. You'll get a good feel about how the procedure is like by watching this video. You'll also get to see before and after pictures so you can check out the difference yourself. Also be on the lookout for my lash extension experience video coming up later this week.

Face of the Day | Tangerine Pout

Yesterday's was my mother's birthday and you know what that means? I got the chance to get a bit dolled up. Currently I've been obsessed with the color orange, specifically juicy tangerine color. I know it may be winter but like I've told you before, we don't get your traditional winter weather here in San Diego so I've been really craving citrus both in my diet, and also my makeup routine. I'm going to be showing you how you can incorporate a tangerine color into your regular makeup routine.

All About Eyes Tag

Recently I got tagged to do this "All About Eyes Tag" by my YouTube friend, Julia of synonymsforoptimism. You all know by now that I really enjoy eye products, in fact I freaking love them! In this tag you're going to get to see everything from my favorite eye cream to my favorite sunglasses. It is a comprehensive video about every eye products out there. What I liked most about this tag is that you get to recommend your best products for the eyes, so if you're looking for a new mascara or eye cream to try then stick around to watch the video.

The Asymmetrical Pixie

As you all know by now, I have a pixie cut and I'm really proud of it but I was recently contemplating on starting the process of growing out my hair. I like changing up my hair often and started to miss my bob a little, but then I stumbled upon this particular picture on Pinterest and decided I still wanted to experiment with the pixie cut. A lot of people think long hair is very versatile but let me tell you, short hair is just as versatile. In this post I'm going to show you some before and after pictures so you can see what a difference a haircut makes.

Review | Wet n Wild Intuitive Blend Shade Adjusting Foundation + Primer

Wet n Wild has been recently hitting it out of the ballpark when it comes to their products. Everyone knows how great the MegaLast Lip Colors, Color Icon Blushers, and Color Icon Eyeshadow palettes are but I haven't heard much about their foundations. When I stumbled upon this at Kmart I became very intrigued about a shade adjusting foundation. I wasn't sure what type of coverage this would have or what type of finish it would have since I've never used a product comparable to this. I have to admit that I also picked this up because I was skeptical that it would actually adjust to my skin tone.

Blink Lash Boutique

When it comes to lashes women do everything! They will buy the latest lash serum, use mascara primer, buy loads and loads of fake lashes, try the newest mascara with the craziest claims, and some will even attempt a at home remedy or two in hopes to make their lashes grow. I had heard of eyelash extensions before but didn't know much about the procedure prior to my appointment at Blink Lash Boutique. Before I dive into the world of eyelash extensions I would like to point out that this is going to be a blog post focusing solely on Blink Lash Boutique, there will be two videos which will be posted the next week regarding the process and also my experience with eyelash extensions.

December Favorites

It seems like every blogger is releasing their "best of 2013" video but I just felt kind of weird doing that. Who am I to decide which products were the best of the year? I haven't been blogging for a year yet and I know that I haven't tried out that many products for me to make the claim that something was the best of the year. Instead of doing that, I've decided to continue my monthly favorites as normal. I discovered lots of great new makeup and skincare items that I was dying to show you!

Nails of the Day | Sunny Days

Yellow is my favorite color but finding the right shade of yellow nail polish can be tough. Some yellow polishes make your nails look dull, others are streaky, and then there's some that take forever to achieve the desired opacity. Who knew a good yellow nail polish could be so hard to find? On my quest to finding a good yellow nail polish I encountered the Rimmel 60 Seconds nail polish in Sunny Days. The very affordable nail polish stood out to me because it is the perfect shade of primary yellow. I have never tried a Rimmel 60 Seconds nail polish before so I figured this would be like killing two birds with one stone. So how did this polish measure up?

What to Expect on the Blog + YouTube

My one year blogiversary is fastly approaching and I couldn't be more excited. 2013 was a great year but I am committed to make 2014 even better. More content, more review, more tutorials, more outfit inspiration, and of course more giveaways. Like the sound of that? If so just keep reading so you can get the 411 on what's to come.

Happy New Year!

I hope you all had an amazing time ringing in the new year with your friends and family. I am currently with my boyfriend since I celebrated new year's with his family. I'm hoping to film a little video for my channel with him while I'm here, so keep your fingers crossed!
