March 2014 Playlist

I can't believe that it's been officially a year since I started making these playlists! It is truly amazing how fast time has gone by since I started blogging. Out of all the blog posts I write I have to say these are some of my favorite posts to work on. I really enjoy the process of coming up a theme and choosing each song for the playlists. This month's playlist is full with amazing and surprising covers. I really enjoy hearing a band or musician's take on another artist's song. If you're interested in listening to the covers then just continue reading.

Face of the Day | The Bare Minimum

As much as I love makeup there's just days that I feel a little too lazy to do something intricate. Whether you have to go to school, run errands, or have the perfect opportunity to film a video- sometimes you just have to put your laziness aside and slap some makeup on. Today was one of those days that I felt like doing the bare minimum on my face in order to film a video because my house was completely quiet. This look requires little time, your fingers, and a bright lip to liven up your face.

Review | Zim's Advanced Crack Creme

When I was contacted by Zim's to review their Crack Creme ($9.99) I immediately said yes because their product had both aloe and arnica, two ingredients I've been using since my childhood in Mexico. I like to refer to their Crack Creme as a miracle in a tube, that's how good it is. It helps relieve itching, extremely dry skin, inflammation, redness, insect bites, eczema, and psoriasis. I've been testing out this product for a little over a week and have been extremely impressed with the results. I was so excited that I ran to my mom and told her how much my skin has improved. Yes, it's that good and one of you will be lucky enough to get to try this out.

The Jelly Bean Challenge!

If you don't spend too much time on YouTube I would like to tell you a thing or two about the Bean Boozled challenge. Jelly Belly has a few boxes that contain weird and normal flavors with the tagline "dare to compare." Well my boyfriend and I gladly took the challenge which consisted of us tasting booger, barf, and baby wipe flavored jelly beans. It was an interesting video to film to say the least, and by far the funniest thing that I've ever recorded on my channel. So, how did we do? You'll have to watch the video to find out.

Review | Covergirl Clump Crusher

Lashblast mascara has been a favorite among consumers and bloggers alike for years now. It has a big brush with rubber bristles that does an amazing job of coating every lash. Since Lashblast is such a popular mascara, Covergirl has released variations of this mascara to perform functions other than volumizing. One of the most recent members of the Lashblast family is the Clump Crusher mascara which has received many great reviews from people in the beauty world, but this one will certainly not a rave review.

Top 5 Lipsticks for Spring

You can only imagine how excited I was to film this video when my friend Sandra of SBeauty101 asked me if I wanted to collaborate with her. In my newest video I'll be sharing with you my favorite lipsticks for spring, as well as showing you how they look on me. When I think of spring I think of a transition from dark lipsticks to rosey and candy colored hues. I really tried to include something for everyone in my list so I'm hoping that you will enjoy it and perhaps find a new lipstick to try out.

(English translation available if you continue reading)

DIY | State/Country Wire Necklace

The end of DIY is here! I'm quite sad that this week is over but I promise to do more DIYs in the future. In this video you'll be learning how to make your own state or country necklace made out of wire. You can make your home state or country, or a place you fell in love with. It's a very simple DIY that shouldn't take more than 15 minutes to make. As the saying goes, "home is where the heart is" but why not wear it right over your heart?

DIY | Oatmeal and Green Tea Mask for Acne

Today's DIY is perfect for those of you who have oily, sensitive, or acne prone skin. This mask will help calm irritated skin, exfoliate, and make your skin look and feel smoother. The mask is also extremely easy to make and only uses 4 ingredients! Now it's time to head over to the kitchen to whip yourself a mask that not only smell delicious but will make your skin look better.

DIY | Ribbon Bar Necklace

In more recent months I've been trading in my chunky jewelry for more dainty pieces and there's nothing more dainty than a bar necklace. You can find bar necklaces everywhere from Etsy to Forever 21. The first time I saw a bar necklace was on blogger Chelsea of ChelseaWears.com. She often wears the Minoux tiny bar necklace in her videos and I've been wanting something similar for months now. This sparked an idea in my head- why don't I try to make my own bar necklace out of ribbon and recycled jewelry?

DIY | Shower Jellies

I remember back when I started watching YouTube videos I wanted to try Lush products so bad because everyone would be hauling Lush items. Unfortunately the products were a little out of my price range so I would just admire them from afar until my brother gave me a Lush gift box for my birthday/Christmas. In that gift box I was introduced to their shower jellies. Shower jellies are body washes in form of jello. They have the same look and feel as your standard jello but they later super nicely on a loofah and moisturize your skin. Lush shower jellies retail from $6.95-$11.95 but you can make yourself two different scents for a fraction of the cost.

DIY | Lip Scrub

Welcome to the first post of DIY week here on Laura Neuzeth. Today's DIY will be on a very simple beauty product that can cost upwards of $9.95 at stores such as Lush. Whenever I see people buy a sugar lip scrub my question is always "why?" Lip scrubs are very easy to make and most of the products you'll need can easily be found at home. Now for those who don't know, it is important to exfoliate your lips at least once a week. Just like any part of your body, your lips will benefit from getting rid of the dry skin. Using a lip scrub will help get rid of the dead skin on the surface of your lips, help any moisturizers penetrate the lips better, and it will also provide a smoother surface for lipstick application. Now that we have that out of the way it is time to begin the DIY!

Outfit of the Day | The Panoramic Printed Dress

If you saw the Neiman Marcus Spring 2014 Trends post then you would know that prints are going to be big in spring. One of the items we were shown was a beautiful printed dress which reminded me of something I bought last summer. The panoramic print may not be identical but it still fall under that print trend we'll be seeing a lot of. Also you'll notice a little dog in all my pictures and that's my Yorkie Francis. I brought her along to the park because well she's a dog and she likes going to the park. haha.

Review | Yves Rocher Sebo Specific 2 in 1 Toner

Not too long ago I placed an order on Yves Rocher and in that order I got some skincare items including this 2 in 1 toner. The Sebo Specific 2 in 1 toner claims to purify and mattify your skin. I have extremely oily skin so I try to look for items that are going to mattify my skin and regulate shine. The toner features a botanical ingredient called scutellaria root which contain the molecules known as flavonoids. According to Yves Rocher the flavonoids are supercharged molecules that regulate shine.

Review + Tutorial | Born Pretty 7pcs Brush Set

A few months ago I was approached by Born Pretty to review an item of my choice. Picking that one item I wanted review was certainly no easy task because they literally have everything from nail art supplies to iPhone cases! And the best part is that everything is well organized and there's free shipping worldwide. I began to look at all the brush kits they offer and this one caught my eye because of the case. It just looked like something I can easily travel with without having to worry about damaging my brushes. Another thing that attracted me to these brushes was the color combination because by now you should know that I love both gold and orange. In this blog post you'll find a review on the brushes as well as a makeup tutorial featuring the brushes in action.

Outfit of the Day | The Blue Plaid Shirt

As I told you in the last lifestyle post, I try to dress as comfortably as possible whenever I take the train. I've dressed cute in the past to visit my boyfriend and I've learned my lesson that sitting around on the train doesn't care if I look cute or not. I mostly stick to comfortable tops, jeans, and boots whenever I go see him because I might want to take a nap on the way back. When I was picking out my outfit at 5am this plaid shirt I bought years ago was begging to be worn again. Since it was quite chilly at 5am I just grabbed it since I knew I could just roll up my sleeves if it got hotter during the day. I know I'm late to the plaid game but a comfortable shirt can honestly be worn year round.

Julep Maven March 2014 Box

My biggest problem with subscription boxes is that you never know what you'll get. Will you get something that you'll enjoy and actually use, or products that you'll never use? I've been subscribed to the Julep Maven box since October but I've only shown you two boxes because I kept skipping my boxes. One of the things I've enjoyed about Julep (other than their nail polishes) is that they show you exactly what you're going to get. There won't be a surprise factor but I'd rather be a savvy consumer instead of paying money for something I'm never going to use. The March box was just way too gorgeous to pass on it, so in my latest video I'll be showing you the nail polishes I got and how they apply.

From Sunrise to Sunset

If you follow me on Twitter then you might have seen that I woke up at 5am on Friday so I could go see Orlando. I'm not a morning person at all but it's a lot easier to wake up when you know you're going to have a good day. I had not seen a sunrise in a while though, probably the last one I saw was during my last semester of college when I went to see Orlando on a Wednesday so we could see Phoenix perform a small set at the KROQ studio in L.A. Waking up early sucks but at least we were able to fit in pho, blog photos, browsing at stores, watching TV, pizza with friends, henchatas (horchata + hennessy), and a minor train freakout all in one day. Sounds like your typical Friday, right? haha I'm going to walk you through what an average day commuting for a long distance relationship looks like.

Nails of the Day | Choconails

Brown has never been a color that I've liked wearing. I remember one of my high school friends used to wear nothing but brown clothing, it was a little odd but she pulled it off well. I've always preferred darker colors like navy blue and black opposed to brown because they make my already pale complexion look even paler. When it comes to clothing I still stay away from brown items, but I like brown a lot when it comes to beauty products and accessories. I have a wide collection of neutral brown eyeshadows but I don't have too many brown nail polishes. Something about this milk chocolate color really caught my eye when I first saw it. I'm not a chocolate lover at all but I personally love rocking what I like to call choconails.

Being An Introverted Blogger

You may think I'm an extrovert because of all the blogger events that I attend but in reality I'm an introvert. Going to any kind of event takes a lot of effort on my part, but I know that there's a lot of positive things that come with being social once in a while. I've have the opportunity to meet some great blogger friends and also network in the blogging community by attending events. If you follow me on Twitter then you may have seen that I got overwhelmed at a recent shopping event which triggered my anxiety. The reason why I'm even sharing this in the first place is because I've had that day's vlog sitting in my channel unpublished because I've been scared to post it. Introverts are very misunderstood so I felt like finally posting something about it in hopes that someone will relate to this.

Eyebrow Routine

The video that you voted on in my blog poll is finally here! I can't believe so many people requested an eyebrow tutorial because in the past so many people (including friends) wanted to tweeze or wax my eyebrows thin. Thankfully I never listened to those people and I've managed to keep my thick brows all these years. This video is slightly longer than my average video but I really tried my best to explain everything from how to groom and fill in your eyebrows, to the tools and products I used. This of course are only my tips, you can definitely adapt some of my tips and develop your own technique to groom and fill in your eyebrows.

The Neutrogena Face-Off Challenge

FTC Disclaimer: This is a compensated campaign in collaboration with Neutrogena and Latina Bloggers Connect.
Removing makeup can not only be a hassle but also time consuming, especially if you're a fan of waterproof mascara like I am. I've been guilty of sleeping with a full face of makeup sometimes which is one of the worst things you can do to your skin. If you don't remove your makeup properly everyday you run the risk of clogging up your pores, causing breakouts, and if the habit continues it can even lead up to premature aging. There's plenty of ways to remove your makeup but today I'm going to be showing you the Neutrogena face-off challenge which puts their Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes to the test! The Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes remove 99.3% of all traces of dirty, oil, and makeup to reveal clean, fresh skin. Will the white towel remain white after removing my makeup? You'll have to keep on reading to find out.

Top 10 Under $5

Shhh... I want to tell you all a little secret: I absolutely love drugstore makeup! Drugstore makeup has really come such a long way. I remember back when drugstore makeup was synonymous with non-pigmented eyeshadows, foundation formulas that would make you break out, and glitter- glitter everywhere! The drugstore has certainly learned to adapt some well loved high end textures and finishes, which is great for those of us who can't indulge ourselves with high end makeup all the time. In some cases I even prefer the drugstore version because the product just outperforms the more expensive version. A lot of you suggested me to do more "top 5" videos but in this case I went with a "top 10" because it was way too hard to narrow it down to just 5 products.

Review | e.l.f. Custom Compact

Building a custom palette seems to be an expensive investment for a makeup lover. A MAC quad will cost you $48 and a custom Urban Decay quad will end up costing you $72! What if I told you that you can build your own palette for $5? Everything from the palette to the eyeshadows will end up costing only $5. Now that I have your attention let me tell you about the e.l.f. Custom Compact.

Nails of the Day | Chartreuse

Last week I went up to Solana Beach with my parents and there I saw the local San Diego beauty store Kamay Beauty and Spa. I usually go to an Ulta or Sephora to buy beauty bits but I've been trying my best to support the little guys more often. Without knowing what kind of a sale they were having I went in "just to browse." Little did I know there was a huge section of items that were marked down 40-80%! In the sale section you could find several Mario Badescu skincare items, Becca makeup, Essie nail polish, and then there was a large display of O.P.I. nail polishes that were 40% off. I felt like I had hit the jackpot because I absolutely love O.P.I. and it's very rare for the polishes to go on sale. I was careful when picking out shades so I only picked colors that I was certain that I didn't own and this one was by far one of the most unique colors.
