Outfit of the Day | Spotty Dotty

Outfit of the Day | Spotty Dotty
I know that my wardrobe has been a bit on the non-colorful side lately. I just prefer to dress in dark colors so I can wear a bright lip or eyeshadow effortlessly. When I saw this top on the COS website I had to give in and just get something that's a bit of out my comfort zone. Prints are not something that I'm a huge fan of, then add a bunch of unsymmetrical colorful dots and you get something that sounds straight out of a horror movie to me. Oddly enough this top has become one of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe. It goes to show that sometimes it's worth stepping out of your style comfort zone.

Ipsy February 2015 Bag

Ipsy February 2015 Bag
I've tried a few monthly beauty subscriptions and no service has made me happier than Ipsy. I feel like they offer such a great variety of both affordable and high end makeup, beauty tools, and also skin care items. So far I haven't been disappointed with Ipsy and this February bag had to be one of the best. Psssst... don't tell my previous bags but this one has to be my favorite. To check out what I received in this month's Ipsy just click below to watch the video.

Outfit of the Day | Winter in San Diego

Outfit of the Day | Winter in San Diego
Just when I was getting used to the chilly weather it suddenly got hot in San Diego. My sweaters and jackets have gone back inside my closet, and my summer clothes are now taking the main stage once again. While the sun may be out, my wardrobe will remain dark for the most part. The outfit that I went with today could also be worn in a colder climate if you add some tights, switch the shoes for boots, and if you add coat. Just thinking about those things is making me really miss living in an area where you actually get to experience all four seasons. Well until then I will show you my winter outfit for San Diego weather.

Introducing Colour Pop

Introduction to Colour Pop
Recently I've been hearing a lot of buzz about a brand called Colour Pop. Everyone from Temptalia to Kathleen Lights (a recent obsession of mine) has been raving about the affordable company from Los Angeles. After seeing multiple swatches of their lippie stix (lipsticks) and a cornucopia of positive reviews, I decided to finally give them a go. Once I went to their website I was pleasantly shocked by the amount of textures and colors offered. The best thing of all? Every single eyeshadow, lip liner, and lipstick is only $5! Five, cinco, cinq! I feel like I need to repeat it again because I had such a hard time believing this the first time I saw the prices. All eyeshadows, lippie stix, and lippie pencils are $5. Sounds too good to be true, right?

1940's Makeup Tutorial

1940's Makeup Tutorial
A few weeks ago Abby, one of the YouTubers that inspired me to start making videos, contacted me to see if I wanted to do a collab. The challenge: Create a video inspired by a decade. Since I have been told several times that my features remind them of old actresses/1940's style women, then I decided to do something inspired by the 1940's. In my newest tutorial I'm going to walk you through the look I created so you can achieve a very feminine and retro look yourself. As I previously mentioned, this video is a collab, but not a regular collab- it is a big one! Myself and six other YouTubers are part of the #DecadesCollab, all the links will be listed down below.

Face of the Day | Copper and Green

Face of the Day | Copper and Green
You already saw the outfit I wore on this day, now I'm going to be showing you my makeup. I got the LORAC Pro Palette a few weeks ago after hearing about for over a year on YouTube. It was one of those products that looked very nice but I felt like I didn't need in my life. That was until I got a coupon from Ulta that allowed me to get the palette for a discounted price so I was like "why not?" Now I'm super glad that I made that purchase because so far I've been loving that palette. On this occasion I decided to play with two of the warmer shades in the palette to create a copper shade that provided the nicest contrast to a forest green sweater.

The Easiest Way to Fix Makeup Mistakes

The Easiest Way to Fix Makeup Mistakes
So you've done almost your entire makeup routine and suddenly you get mascara on the bridge of your nose? That's a beauty scenario that happens way too often in my life. There's also all the times when you've blinked and gotten mascara on your lower eyelid, and all those times that you've tried to wing out your eyeliner and somehow it just kept getting thicker and thicker in order to "fix" your mistakes. Luckily I've found a two step process that doesn't require lugging around your oil-based makeup remover or wasting an entire makeup wipe just to fix something that is smaller than a dime. All you're going to need is a handy dandy tool that costs less than $5 and a cotton swab.

Growing Out My Pixie Cut- The Conclusion

Growing Out My Pixie Cut- The Conclusion
The time to end the "growing out my pixie cut" series has come. After 11 months I think it's time to wrap things up since I finally reached my desired hair length. I know I'm going to sound extremely cliché right now but time flew by during the past 11 months. I can still recall getting an asymmetrical back in January 2014 and then by my birthday I already had a bob. CRAZY! This last hair update was filmed in two parts: before my haircut in December and then almost a year after I decided to grow out my hair. You will get to see how my hair looked like at the beginning of December and how it looks like now. I will also let you know about the three important things that I learned throughout this whole hair journey.

Review | Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation

Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation
If you saw my January favorites then you heard me raving about the new Maybelline Fit Me Foundation. The Matte + Poreless line is Maybelline's newest addition to the Fit Me range which is home to one of my all-time favorite concealers. When I first saw the Matte + Poreless line I first picked up the powder which honestly didn't blow me away, so I became a little hesitant about trying out the foundation. On one of my many CVS trips with my boyfriend, I decided to pick up the foundation on a whim and I haven't looked back since. Ever since I got that bottle of foundation in my room I've been using it every single day and haven't really thought of using any other foundation.

Outfit of the Day | Simple Valentine's Day Dress

Outfit of the Day | Simple Valentine's Day Dress
I don't do pink for Valentine's Day, and as you've probably noticed from my blog I'm not much of a pink girl in general. If I were to actually celebrate Valentine's Day I would rather go with something classic just so I could do a (long-lasting) bold lip. When I saw this dress on the Madewell website I knew it had to be mine, although it looks very similar to another Madewell dress that I wore last year. What can I say? I have a thing for black knit dresses from Madewell that emphasize my waist. Apart from being ultra comfortable, I think this would make a lovely option if you were going to a semi-casual dinner or get together. It's a whole lot fancy than jeans and a t-shirt, but definitely not a "take me to a $200+ dinner" type of fancy. I think you catch my drift...

Neutral Valentine's Day Look

Neutral Valentine's Day Look
Valentine's Day makeup usually feature red lips and rosy cheeks but this is no ordinary Valentine's Day look. As you may know I've been a fan of neutrals for a while, but recently my love for neutrals has reached an all-time high. You may recognize this makeup look if you follow me on Instagram because it was the same look that I wore on Christmas Eve. For me this is a perfect look for any occasion because you can wear anything without having to ask yourself "will this go with my outfit?" This makeup tutorial is in collaboration with Betzy of the channel Betzy Carmona so if you want to see a more sultry look for Valentine's Day just go ahead and watch her incredible tutorial. Now let's take out all the neutral makeup from your collection and let's get started.

January 2015 Favorites

January Favorites
It seems like I haven't posted a monthly favorites on my blog in a while. While I did post a December favorites my DSLR started failing and the post never went up but now we're back in business! In January I discovered a lot of affordable gems at the drugstore that can easily compete with higher end options. I also discovered a great trio that helps extend the life of my manicure which is always a great thing, especially when you have a puppy biting your nails. If you're curious about seeing why I liked each item just click to see the rest of the post. As a bonus I'm also going to include my December favorites in this blog post.

Outfit of the Day | Back in Green

Guess who's baaaaack? Let's just say January wasn't my month but let's start off fresh this month! I have a brand new camera, a new lens, and a few new clothing pieces that I picked up last month during the winter sales. When I saw this chunky sweater at Zara I instantly fell in love with the loose silhouette and the olive green color. I unfortunately haven't had too many opportunities to wear the sweater due to how hot it got in San Diego but this past weekend I finally saw the opportunity to wear this gem without the fear of overheating. Let's just say that olive green is now one of my favorite colors to wear.
