Review | Vichy Dermablend Ultra Corrective Cream Stick

A foundation that can cover literally everything, that's the stuff dreams are made of. One only dreams of a multitasking product that can cover everything from pesky zits to veins and Vichy delivers. The Vichy Dermablend Ultra Corrective Cream Stick claims to last 12 hours and have a medium to high coverage while being gentle enough for those who have sensitive skin. Sounds a little too good to be true right?

I have been using Vichy Dermablend products for about two years now. This is one of the many products that I had the opportunity to purchase while I was living in Paris. I bought it because Lisa Eldridge has used it in a couple of her tutorials and you know if a product has Lisa's stamp of approval then it must be good.

As I previously said this foundation claims to be have a medium to high coverage and be long-lasting. Unlike other cream foundations, this one does not have a dry consistency. It is very creamy and easy to blend with any beauty tool or your fingers. This little sucker works fantastic as a concealer which is how I've been using it since I got it. This has replaced my beloved Mac Studio Finish concealer which has a drier consistency and tended to look patchy by the end of the day. The Vichy Dermablend is amazing for spot concealing because it will literally cover any blemish or imperfection that you have on your skin. And unlike the Mac concealer, this doesn't have a tendency to look dry and patchy at the end of the day.

Now for the price tag... this does retail for $30 in the States but it can be found at Ulta, Walgreens, and CVS which is not bad considering this is a French product. If you happen to be in France or traveling you can find this for around 15€ ($19USD) at pretty much any pharmacy that sells Vichy. The price tag is one of the aspects of this product that I'm not too keen on but when you think about value for money you won't feel as guilty of purchasing a $30 foundation that you plan to use as concealer. The Mac Studio Finish Concealer retails for $18 for 7g which makes the unit price $2.52 per gram. The Vichy Dermablend retails for $30 for 12g and that makes the unit price $2.50 per gram and it has 5 more grams than the Mac one! You'll end up pretty much the same amount of money per gram but in the end this will last you a lot longer than the Mac concealer. I've used this tube since April 2012 and it's still going strong thanks to the 2 year expiration date.

Now for the other con of this product. The fact that Vichy is a French pharmaceutical brand means that the shade range is very limited. There are only four colors available with Opal being the lightest and Sand being the darkest. If you have very fair-fair skin like I do then Opal will work great for you. I believe Sand would work for those with a medium skin tone fine but it won't be dark enough for deeper skin tones. You could try it for the undereye area since Sand has a very orange undertone which is great for covering up purple hued undereye circles and any other discoloration but you would most likely have to go over the area with your foundation.
