Review | Dove Clear Tone Deodorant + GIVEAWAY

Disclaimer: This is a compensated campaign in collaboration with Latina Bloggers Connect and Dove.
I feel like deodorant and antiperspirant are rarely talked about in beauty blogs and I honestly don't know why. Deodorant is part of our everyday routine, it can hydrate the armpit area, and also prevent body odors. There's a deodorant nearly for everything! There's some that smell like a field of flowers, others that moisturize, and then there's products like the Dove Clear Tone Deodorant that help lighten and even out the armpit area.

For the past two years now I've been using nothing but aerosol deodorants so I was a little unsure about how the transition back to a stick deodorant would be like. First let me explain to you why I made the switch from a stick deodorant to an aerosol one. In France if you walk down the deodorant section at a store you will find that the majority are in a can. Due to my curiosity I decided to try one out and it was love at first spritz. It was so easy to apply, dried instantly, have 48h protection, and most importantly it wouldn't leave white marks whatsoever. I know aerosol deodorants are not very popular in the United States but luckily living in a border city allows me to cross over to Mexico where there's a wide variety of aerosol deodorants. I've tried a variety of deodorants including some that are meant to lighten your armpits and the problem I've come across those deodorants is that they smell horrible. One of the deodorants smelled like baby powder and the other smelled exactly like Nair hair removal products. I'm usually not very sensitive to smell but I just couldn't stand the smell of either deodorant because they were extremely strong and would linger on your skin for a couple of minutes.

I was a bit afraid that the Dove Clear Tone Deodorant would have a weird smell but luckily both the Pink and Sheer Touch versions smell really pleasant. The Pink/Rosa deodorant has a sweet floral scent and features violet, rose, and raspberry blossom. The Sheer Touch deodorant smells kind of like a tropical drink because of the slight citrus scent with hints of almond and coconut milk. While I am a fan of citrus smells, I don't really like coconut so the Pink/Rosa deodorant is obviously my favorite. If you're a girly girl or someone who just enjoys floral scents then you'll really love Pink/Rosa.

Now for the real test, does this deodorant really lighten your armpit area? I have to say that it's showing signs that it really does work. I have only been using it for a week and I've noticed quite a change! My armpit area is almost the same color as my arms. My aerosol deodorants never showed any signs of them working even after using them for weeks.  Dove Clear Tone Deodorant is designed to reduce red and dark marks and even skin tone resulting from shaving irritation. The process of shaving can reduce the top layer of skin by 20%, leaving the skin very sensitive and exposed to chafing or dryness. I personally shave my armpits because it is just a lot easier and less painful than waxing or tweezing (which is my mom's favorite method).

If you like to shave then this is a great deodorant for you! Not only will it help even out the skin tone but it is also a very moisturizing deodorant. It honestly glides on your skin just like butter and the moisturizers in this deodorant are formulated to help accelerate the natural skin renewal process. A problem with very thick and creamy deodorants is that if not removed properly they can cause bad B.O. caused by buildup. For that reason it is incredibly important to exfoliate your armpit area. You want to make sure that the deodorant is fully removed in the shower and you also get rid of your dead skin. We exfoliate nearly every part of our body and why not your armpits? Exfoliating regularly with either a loofah or a body scrub will help lighten your armpit area even more.

Another one of the claims is that this deodorant offers 48h protection, now that's 2 days without showering and I know that it may sound very gross but I tested that out on a day that I didn't have to show everyone my greasy hair. I'm happy to report that I didn't smell anything weird in my armpit area but I just had to take a shower as soon as I realized that it was all good.

Now you may be thinking that there's nothing wrong with this deodorant but let me come back to what I like about aerosol deodorants- they don't stain my clothing. I found that the Dove Clear Tone Deodorant would leave the worst white marks on my dark clothing. So if you're wardrobe consists of mostly dark pieces, I would proceed with caution or use this deodorant at night as a moisturizing night treatment for your armpits. That is pretty much the only thing I didn't like because I did manage to stain a lot of my shirts white with this deodorant, even if I applied the deodorant after putting my shirt on.

Overall I was very pleased with the deodorant and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to gently lighten and moisturize their armpit area. I do wish this came in an aerosol form though just because that's my preference, but this stick deodorant is easily one of the best American deodorants that I've ever tried and by far the best smelling lightening deodorant.
