Tropical Gradient Nail Art

I'm closing drugstore week with a very simple nail art that reminds me of everything that is tropical. You don't need to be drawing on little palm trees to make them tropical, all you need is some green nail polishes and a yellow one. This manicure is very easy and relatively inexpensive since we're using nail polishes from the drugstore and one cosmetic sponge to create the gradient effect.

Materials
Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover + Cuticle pusher
Cosmetic sponge
Tape
Revlon Nail Enamel in Trendy
Revlon Brilliant Strength Nail Enamel in Entice
Rimmel 60 Seconds Nail Polish in Sunny Days
Seche Vite (this is not drugstore, sorry!)

We're going to start by getting rid of the nasty cuticles! I'm using the Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover that I spoke about in my haul. All I do is apply it directly on my cuticles, leave it on for 30-45 seconds, and then push the cuticles in. If I have a lot of residue left then I'll wash my hands to get rid of that.

If you don't want to have a lot of cleaning up to do, then I highly suggest you use tape around your nails. Using a sponge is really messy as you'll see down below. You can even cut the piece of tape in half so that you don't waste a lot of tape in the process.

Now it's time to get stamping! All you need is a cosmetic sponge and your nail polish colors. You're going to apply each color on the sponge. Make sure you have a lot of polish but stamp it once on a piece of paper before you do it on your nail to get the excess off. Then just stamp away! The stamping will cause the colors to merge and form that gradient effect. I did two coats of the stamping before I was content with the opacity.

I wasn't kidding when I said that this manicure is a messy one! I would highly recommend you use the tape method because removing all of the nail polish off my skin was pretty time consuming.

After you are done with stamping all you need to do is clean up with some nail polish remover and apply a top coat. Wait until the nails are completely dry before applying a topcoat because it can smear the polishes and ruin the gradient effect. The topcoat will smooth everything and make the manicure look a lot nicer.
