Review | Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Mattes Lip Color

I'll be the first to tell you that I haven't been much of a Maybelline lipstick fan. I've heard many bloggers talk and talk about them, and I would try them and instantly get disappointed. I never quite understood the hype around the lipsticks and the artificial Play-doh scent was a huge turn-off for me. When I first heard about the new Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lip Color I was certain that I wouldn't want to try them. I thought I was going to run into an OK lipstick with a horrible scent, but after hearing some of my favorite bloggers rave about these matte lipsticks I decided to give one shade a go and see if perhaps this would be the first time that I would enjoy a Maybelline lipstick.

Let me start off by saying that this lipstick is amazing! There, I said it. This is the very first time that I'm agreeing with all the rave reviews and that I would highly recommend my blog readers to get a Maybelline lipstick. The lipstick is incredibly opaque, smooth, and long wearing. With about two coats you'll get a really opaque color on your lips. Sometimes with matte lipsticks you get a lot of streaking or uneven color, but that won't happen with this particular lipstick because it's so creamy and smooth.

There's no dry feeling or flaking with this lipstick either. The Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Mattes are actually very moisturizing for a matte lipstick, so you won't find yourself wearing a lip balm with these. I also find that there isn't one point of the day where this lipstick feels uncomfortable to wear. If you're not a lipstick wearer then you might find this lipstick to be a little thick, but if you normally wear lipstick then you will find that this is one of the most comfortable lipsticks you've ever owned.

I wouldn't say that this lipstick is completely matte, but compared to the other Maybelline lipsticks you can certainly tell the difference. In my opinion these lipsticks have a velvet finish because they do have just a slight sheen when you first apply them to the lips. Like all matte lipsticks, the Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Mattes are very long wearing. I usually get around 4-5 hours of wear with this lipstick and even after eating you'll still see a lot of color left on your lips.

The shade I ended up picking is this beautiful berry shade which will flatter pretty much any skintone. To me Mesmerizing Magenta is a wearable bright shade, it isn't in your face like a very cool toned hot pink. This lipstick shade was actually chosen by my boyfriend, after almost 3 years of being together I'm glad that he now knows a thing or two about makeup.
