Will the Superstay Better Skin Concealer Become the Next Cult Favorite Concealer?

Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Concealer
If you're a beauty addict like myself, then you most likely own at least one Maybelline concealer in your stash. When it comes to drugstore concealers, Maybelline just gets it right. The Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer is one of the most hyped about under eye concealers in the beauty community. Then we have the Fit Me Concealer which often gets compared to the pricey NARS concealer by bloggers and happens to be one of my holy grail concealers. Even their FaceStudio Master Conceal managed to gather rave reviews due to the fact that it has great coverage and a lightweight consistency. Now Maybelline is welcoming yet another concealer into their already amazing lineup. Will the new SuperStay Better Skin Concealer become Maybelline's next cult concealer? I have to say that this concealer has some pretty steep competition.

The SuperStay Better Skin Concealer is supposed to be a 2-in-1 product which covers imperfections and treats the skin. The concealer has a more potent form of Vitamin C known as Actyl-C which is supposed to reduce the appearance of dark circles, spots, and pigmentation in 3 weeks. Like the other SuperStay products that Maybelline has released in the past, this one is meant to have high durability and last the whole day.

I would say that the SuperStay Better Skin Concealer has medium to full coverage. It covers everything from dark circles to blemishes incredibly well. The concealer never feels heavy on the skin, and it blends out well with your fingers or a brush.

While I do think the SuperStay Better Skin Concealer is a good concealer, I don't think it's as good as their other concealers. If I compare it to the Fit Me Concealer, the SuperStay Better Skin Concealer is much dryer and harder to blend out. I also find that the SuperStay Better Skin Concealer settles into my fine lines, which is something that the Fit Me Concealer doesn't do on my skin. If I compare it to the FaceStudio Master Conceal, the SuperStay Better Skin Concealer is once again much dryer and the coverage isn't as impressive. The FaceStudio Master Conceal has a liquid consistency which blends out easily, doesn't feel heavy nor dry, and provides maximum coverage. Lastly let's compare it to the popular Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer, the SuperStay Better Skin Concealer is not brightening and it also makes the under eye area look very flat and stark.

As far as the skincare benefits, I don't think you can solely rely on a concealer (or foundation) to fix darkness and spots. That job seems better suited for a skin serum or cream, something that can penetrate the skin rather than sit on top of the skin.

The SuperStay Better Skin Concealer is in no way a bad concealer, I just believe that it doesn't measure up to the other concealers in Maybelline's lineup. In my opinion the concealer doesn't have what it takes to become the next cult concealer and I wouldn't repurchase it when I finish the tube.

The SuperStay Better Skin Concealer retails for $8.99 and it can be found at drugstores and major retailers.
