Outfit inspirations can come any shape and form. I often find inspiration on Pinterest, magazines, while I'm out and about, and most recently on a bottle of LISTERINE®. Random I know, but the new bottles are just pretty freaking cool. If you've followed my blog for a while, then you already know that usually I shy away from prints but I will gladly make an exception for plaid. Plaid to me is the print that personifies effortlessly cool, and it also happens to be ridiculously comfortable. Plaid is very versatile since it can easily go from the streets to a glam get together. While I love plaid, the San Diego weather makes it a bit tricky to wear it but I've come up with three very easy ways that you can style plaid while it still feels like summer outside.

For the first look I took inspiration from the green plaid in the LISTERINE® Freshburst bottle and decided to borrow this forest green plaid shirt from my brother's closet. One of the easiest way to wear plaid in Southern California is by wearing it as a substitute for a light sweater. I paired the green plaid top with a lightweight sleeveless shirt, some dark wash skinny jeans, and white sandals. I kept the shirt unbuttoned and I rolled up the sleeves for a more San Diego friendly look. Not going to lie, I definitely wore this look one too many times during college.

For the second casual look, I decided to go one step back and just tie the shirt around my waist. If it's a little too hot for plaid but you still want to rock it, just tie it! Another alternative is to tie it around your shoulders for a different but still casual way to wear plaid. Either way you'll be rocking some plaid in your look and once it does cool down you can just put it on for some warmth. A plaid top would also look so cute tied around overalls, a chambray dress, or a black skater skirt.

I saved the fanciest look for last, this is something that can be worn to a blogger event or a little dinner date. This time around, the classic red plaid LISTERINE® bottle was the inspiration for this outfit. When I think of plaid, I typically think of the red and black checkered print which matches nearly anything. And I'm not going to lie, I was feeling a bit daring when I decided to combine lace with plaid. I know, this is very unlike myself but I happened to love the end result. The black lace knee-length skirt and heels instantly made the plaid more dressy, but it was still comfortable enough for my tomboy self.

Now let's talk about what's inside these little stylish bottles of LISTERINE®. It's no secret that LISTERINE® has always been a big trendsetter, and for a limited time you can pick up the Mad for Plaid collection at my favorite store Target. These bottles are limited edition and will only be in store until October 31st, luckily for you there's a Cartwheel app offer that will automatically knock 10% off a bottle. I personally love using mouthwash in my oral hygiene routine because it helps keep my gums healthy and I really love tingly sensation that you feel while you're swishing the product in your mouth. Taking the extra step of incorporating LISTERINE® twice a day into your routine will help you achieve superior oral health because otherwise brushing alone misses 75% of your mouth.
