Today's outfit post is going to be part OOTD and personal update. So it's no secret that I haven't been able to keep up with my blog so far in 2017, and there's a perfect reason why. Since last summer I've been so preoccupied with my jobs and my blog/YouTube work, and it literally got to the point that I didn't have much of a life. I don't know about you but working all the time is very draining (even when part of your job requires you to be creative), so this year I've shifted my focus to bettering myself both mentally as well as physically. I've actually been giving myself proper days off and I just started to work out again. Mix and matching is not only a fashion term, you can most definitely apply that concept to your life as well. It's all about finding the right balance for yourself.

Outfit of the Day | The Drop Waist Dress
When it comes to fashion for curvy girls, we're always encouraged to wear items with a cinched waist because somehow that will give us a more "flattering" look. As much as I love a good pair of high waisted jeans, I honestly feel like I've been missing out on a few trends because they're not considered flattering on my body shape. Now this shape will not give you an hourglass look or fit your body like a glove, this is a trend for the people who like loose fitting clothing like myself. I was honestly a bit scared about wearing anything with a drop waist, but now I'm glad I decided to try it out because it looks quite nice- even on a curvy figure. It's a different look but one that didn't feel too forced on myself.
Outfit of the Day | Laidback Summer
The heatwave is back at it again in San Diego and I'm currently wishing that I could just live in the huge walk-in refrigerators at Costco. When it's this hot, all I want to wear is light clothing and a hat to block off the haters (in this case the sun). During my recent trip to the thrift stores I came across a pair of lightweight denim pants which I've been wearing a ton recently. They're absolutely perfect for summer because the material is very light and airy, plus unlike regular jeans these are pretty loose. I paired the pants with my thinnest white t-shirt and a boater hat for an easy laidback summer look.
Outfit of the Day | Sunday Afternoon
One of my favorite things about blogging has been all the friends that I've made over the last few years. I definitely consider myself very fortunate to have befriended some of the sweetest bloggers in San Diego and I feel even more lucky that we're incredibly supportive of one another. We'll help each other take pictures, film videos, and even give each other advice. Sometimes in the blogging community you come across people that will see you as their competition, when in fact we're all in crazy blogging journey together. If we don't try to help one another, then who will? On a very sunny Sunday afternoon my blogger friends and I decided to meet up in North Park, have a delicious brunch, and take a few outfit pictures in some of the most "Instagram worthy" backdrops. This is what I wore to the blogger brunch.

Easy No-Sew DIY Solutions with Scotch™ Essentials
This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #WardrobeSolutions #CollectiveBias
Let me fill you in on a little secret... I absolutely suck at sewing clothes. Whenever I need something hemmed or repaired, then I'll either ask my mom or get it done at the dry cleaners because otherwise I don't trust myself with a needle and thread. There's a few items in my closet that I haven't even worn because I find the fit very unflattering, like this maxi skirt. I know many people love maxi skirts, but they're just not my cup of tea because they make me look a bit frumpy. If you're someone that isn't the best at altering clothes, then you're going to love this easy and very affordable solution that I found at Target. This requires absolutely no sewing skills and it will only take you a few minutes to do. Plus this is a great way to update your wardrobe without feeling the need to purchase more clothes.Outfit of the Day | Faux Suede
I know suede is a very popular material but I honestly really never thought much about it. I usually would associate suede with fringe festival wear and very short suede skirts, but then I found this amazing faux suede skirt in the Target clearance section. I know what you're probably thinking, is Target even ethical? Surprisingly the Target brand clothes are in fact ethical and made in a sustainable way (source). I will be dedicating a full post on this issue very soon, but this should be great news to people who are looking to buy sustainable clothing at an affordable price. Target still has some work to do in order to become more transparent, but their environmental and sustainability efforts are definitely not going unnoticed.

3 Ways to Style An Oversized Shirt
Here's a little story about this oversized men's button down. It was Record Store Day 2014 and after doing a little record shopping, I stumbled upon the Buffalo Exchange Earth Day sale. First of all, I had no idea it was Earth Day and back then I was literally the worst at thrifting (even at a place like Buffalo Exchange). They had around 5 cardboard boxes outside the store full with $1 clothing items. And I won't lie, most of the stuff in the boxes was pretty horrible but then I managed to dig up this blue button down from the bottom of one of the boxes. At first I didn't think much of it but I decided to get it because I really loved the royal blue color. Now 2 years later I couldn't be happier that I decided to pick this $1 shirt up because it's one of the most versatile pieces I own. I wear it casually, a little edgy, and I even dress it up once in awhile.
Outfit of the Day | Chill 4th of July
With 4th of July just a couple of days away, I had to show you my subtle take on 4th of July fashion. I know this may sound hard to believe, but there was once a time that I would deck myself out with so much red, white, and blue. I still remember going to Limited Too as a sixth grader and picking out everything that had stars and stripes. Although it's fun to rock your patriotic AF look on the 4th of July, nowadays I prefer a much more subtle approach. Last week when I went thrifting, I found this beautiful striped top which luckily fit me perfectly. You can easily wear a striped top, relaxed jeans, sandals, and a red lip to any of your 4th of July festivities. It's possible to look patriotic without having to pile on all the red, white, and blue you can find.
June 2016 Favorites

Summer has arrived and to be honest, I really wasn't ready for the heat. You would think that I'm already used to this weather having lived here all my life, right? Well I'm not, especially since this year has been a bit more gloomy than past years (which I've been loving). My body really doesn't like the heat, so I've really had to dig through my body care collection and pick out some heavy duty products to combat my dry skin. I've also been using very little makeup this past month because I hate the feeling of having a thick layer of makeup on my face when it's 90ºF outside. There's honestly nothing worse than the feeling of your makeup melting away.
Outfit of the Day | Feeling Blue
It's been a month since my last fashion post and since then I've made the big decision to stop supporting unethical fast fashion retailers. That means saying adieu to shopping at Zara, H&M, Forever 21, Topshop, and even Uniqlo. There's nothing wrong with the actual clothes themselves, but I personally started to feel very guilty when I made the association between a getting good deal at the cost of someone's life. In order to stop supporting fast fashion I've had to rekindle my love with thrift shopping. At first it was a bit tough because thrift shopping requires a lot more time and patience, but now I've come to enjoy digging through the racks to find hidden gems like this silk blue top which I've been wearing a lot recently.

Outfit of the Day | Springtime Edge
What comes in mind when you think of spring trends? Pastels, floral prints, festival wear, rompers... What about leather jackets? Well, I know you normally wouldn't think of a leather jacket for spring but I do things quite differently. This Levi's leather jacket was purchased over 5 years ago and it still is my one and only leather jacket in my wardrobe. By this point in time, this has become my ride or die jacket. This jacket has seen Paul McCartney at Outside Lands, explored Budapest with absolutely no phone reception, seen some bad ass DJs in Paris, and even met St. Vincent after a show. We're inseparable and I honestly couldn't imagine ever parting ways with it.

3 Ways to Style a Breton Striped Top
For my second episode of my 3 Ways to Style series I've decided to style the classic Breton Striped Top. The top that you'll see in this video is from COS, one of my favorite Swedish fashion brands. If you're a fan of minimal pieces, great quality basics, and loose fitting clothes then COS is for you. Although the Breton stripes were originally worn by the French navy seaman in Brittany (north of France), the style has transcended time and gender to become one of the most versatile prints in fashion. Breton stripes are by far my favorite print to wear and once you get a good quality top it'll be real hard to put it down.

Outfit of the Day | Experimenting with Mom Jeans
Ever since I saw the Mom Jeans SNL Skit a few years go, I couldn't help but to poke fun at the mom jeans trend. I honestly thought the mom jeans trend was going to die rather quickly, but it's back again since 90's nostalgia has hit an all time high with my generation. And I'm not going to lie, I do miss the days when fashion was incredibly comfortable while being a little bit on the weird side. During a recent trip to the Salvation Army I made it a mission to try on one of the infamous 90's jeans, just to see if I could perhaps pull it off. Well... I still don't think they're particularly flattering, but they're so damn comfortable that I couldn't care less about everything else. Comfort + 90's Nostalgia = Match made in heaven.

3 Ways to Style a Midi Skirt
Today is the beginning of a brand new series on my YouTube and blog called "3 Ways to Style." I'm going to be taking a standout piece in my capsule wardrobe and styling it three different ways to show you how versatile they are. The star of my first episode is the Who What Wear midi skirt which is still available at Target. I'm typically not a skirt type of girl, but I instantly fell in love with this midi skirt when I laid eyes on it. It took a cute and comfortable midi skirt to break my lifelong obsession with jeans.

Closet Confidential
I've been getting asked to talk more about my style on my YouTube channel. If you've been following my blog for a while, then you all know about my very comfortable and laidback style but that's not the case on my channel. I thought a good way to start introducing style videos to my channel would be by talking about some of my favorite pieces in my capsule wardrobe. I will fill you in on everything from the oldest item to my closet, to my three favorite pieces at the moment.
Outfit of the Day | The Midi Skirt
It's not often when a skirt catches my eye since I'm hardcore jeans and t-shirt girl, but when I saw this midi skirt from Target I knew I needed it in my life. I had been looking for the perfect midi skirt for a while now, but most skirts in general feel too short for me. I'm definitely not into showing skin, so that's why midi skirts appealed to me. This skirt not only fits like a dream, but I was able to envision a few ways to style it once I tried it out in store which is something I always have to do now that my closet is considerably smaller. I was definitely missing a more feminine pieces like this one in my capsule wardrobe but now I've filled my skirt void with this affordable gem.

Outfit of the Day | Scarf Weather
Can you believe that it's gotten so cold that I've had take out my scarves? Yeah, me neither. Although our winters here in San Diego are pretty darn weak when compared to what I experienced while I was studying in Paris, when you experience hot weather almost all year long a 30º F drop makes a huge difference. While it's not cold enough for a thick coat, I have gotten the opportunity to wear my thick burnt orange colored snood I purchased while I was in Paris! I've also been on a serious beanie and boots kick lately and the ones that I'm wearing happen to be from the men's section. Maybe shopping in the men's department won't work for every woman, but if you happen to have big feet and a big head (or lots of hair) then you might want to rethink visiting the men's section without your significant other.

Mad For Plaid
This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #RinseMadeRad #CollectiveBias
Outfit inspirations can come any shape and form. I often find inspiration on Pinterest, magazines, while I'm out and about, and most recently on a bottle of LISTERINE®. Random I know, but the new bottles are just pretty freaking cool. If you've followed my blog for a while, then you already know that usually I shy away from prints but I will gladly make an exception for plaid. Plaid to me is the print that personifies effortlessly cool, and it also happens to be ridiculously comfortable. Plaid is very versatile since it can easily go from the streets to a glam get together. While I love plaid, the San Diego weather makes it a bit tricky to wear it but I've come up with three very easy ways that you can style plaid while it still feels like summer outside.
What's In My Music Festival Bag?
One of the most popular videos to record for beauty/style YouTubers is the classic "What's in my bag?" video. I've even done a few myself but I decided to add a little twist this time around. Why not show you what I'm took to a music festival AT the music festival? Yes, I asked my boyfriend to record me take out all the items out my backpack while I was waiting for the next act to go up. I got a lot of weird stares, but it's ok because frankly I'm used to them by now. The video was recorded on the third and final day of Outside Lands, a.k.a. the day I camped out in the front of the stage to see Elton John. That should explain why I had so much food in my bag, but I have absolutely no excuse for all the lip products.

Outfit of the Day | Modern Basics
Earlier this summer I decided that I'm going to begin to transition into a capsule wardrobe. If you don't know what that means, I'm basically going to limit my wardrobe to 30-40 pieces. In order to do that, I've been selling some of my clothing and putting stuff aside to donate. It's not easy decluttering your closet, but building a capsule wardrobe has proven to be quite fun. The few fashion pieces that I've picked up as of late have been purchased if they fit the following criteria: 1.) Will I get a lot of wear from this? 2.) Can I style it in multiple ways? 3.) Do I feel comfortable in this? And from there I decide if it's worth adding into my wardrobe or not. Today I'm going to show you one of my favorite outfits that I've been wearing quite often this summer.
