Recreating My Prom Makeup

Recreating My Prom Makeup
A lot has happened since I went to prom eight years ago. I went to college, studied abroad in Paris, worked a few jobs, graduated college, chopped off my hair, and started making YouTube videos. As a high school senior I had very limited knowledge of makeup, but YouTube changed all of that. I began following people who loved makeup like Judy (itsjudytime), Elle (allthatglitters21), and Lauren (panacea81). I practiced and practiced my makeup skills so I could do my makeup, as well as my friends makeup on prom night. Looking back at those pictures, I'm really glad I stuck to what I was comfortable with and what I thought made me look pretty but there are a few things I would change about the makeup now. In this video I'll be taking inspiration from my old prom look and also putting on my prom dress for the first time in eight years.

Not going to lie, this video is quite a long one but I'm personally very happy with how it turned out. I made sure to share a lot of makeup tips that you could use for prom or another special occasion, as well as some personal stories from prom night.

Recreating My Prom Makeup
Here's a few pictures from prom night in 2008! My prom was held at the San Diego Air & Space Museum in Balboa Park and now every time I go to that museum it brings me back to that night. I didn't get asked for prom, but that was totally fine with me because I went with two of my best friends. If you remember the prom scene in Twilight, we were basically like those three girls that were standing behind Edward and Bella. We honestly had so much fun hanging out together, taking pictures, and trying our best not to laugh at the awkward bumping and grinding on the dance floor. Seeing my fellow AP nerds getting down on the dance floor was very interesting to say the least.

Here's a little before and after, as you can see I've totally lost my high school tennis tan and now look like a vampire. I have to admit, it was so strange putting on that dress again but I'm still in love with what I chose to wear for prom. Choosing this red fabric was very out of my comfort zone back then and it's even more so now, but I still think red is a very flattering color on me.

What did you wear on your prom night? Let me know in the comments below.
