Review | Me Now Generation II Long Lasting Lip Gloss from Born Pretty Store

Me Now Generation II Long Lasting Lip Gloss from Born Pretty Store
Long lasting lip products have become somewhat of an obsession of mine this year. I've tried a good amount of these lip products and I recently got the opportunity to try yet another one from Born Pretty Store. When I saw this product online it immediately reminded me of the much hyped about Sephora Cream Lip Stain that I reviewed a few months ago. The Cream Lip Stain retails for $13 while the Born Pretty Store option retails for $3.55 so naturally I began to compare these two because I like saving money just like many of you out there. So how does the affordable option compare to the higher end matte lip cream?

Me Now Generation II Long Lasting Lip Gloss
The Me Now Generation II Long Lasting Lip Gloss from Born Pretty Store is described as a waterproof velvety matte lipstick. It is meant to be transfer resistant and not sticky whatsoever. I picked up shade #27 which is a beautiful strawberry red that goes on very opaque. The texture and appearance of the lip gloss reminded me a lot of the Sephora Cream Lip Stain because both have that same velvety matte finish and similar claims.

The application was actually much easier than with the Sephora Cream Lip Stain because the doe foot applicator in the Me Now Generation II Long Lasting Lip Gloss is longer and thinner. The shape of the applicator allowed me to get a much cleaner line around my lips so I didn't feel the need to use a lip liner to get a sharp line. The applicator also dispenses the perfect amount of product on the lips so you won't have to deal with having gloop on your lips.

I found that the Me Now Generation II Long Lasting Lip Gloss has a thicker consistency and lasts better than the Sephora Cream Lip Stain. I wore this at work this past weekend and it lasted 5 hours without retouching. Even after eating lunch most of the color was still there. If you watched my Sephora video, then you would remember that the color started fading 3 hours into the day and that was before I even had anything to eat. I was very impressed with the longevity of the Me Now Generation II product especially considering the price. The lip gloss is also pretty transfer proof just like Sephora version which once again impressed me quite a bit.
Born Pretty Store Lip Gloss Waterproof Matte Velvet
As much as I like this product it did have two big drawbacks for me. Born Pretty claims that this isn't a sticky product, but I find this incredibly sticky and dry which is an odd combination. My lips felt really dry as soon as the product became matte. I even had to add lip balm to combat it, but it almost seemed to soak up all the moisture. The stickiness also made this uncomfortable to wear for the first few hours but it does disappear eventually. It is also a hard product to remove and it will require an oil based makeup remover to properly remove it.
Here are some comparison swatches of all my red long lasting liquid lipsticks. The product that was the most similar to the Me Now Generation II was definitely with Sephora Cream Lip Stain and to be honest I prefer the more affordable option. I think it lasted much better, the applicator made it easier to apply, and the finish is pretty much the same for a fraction of the price. The Born Pretty option may not be perfect but I'll gladly pay $3.55 for a long lasting lip product instead of $13.
