Review | Kylie Jenner Lip Kit

Kylie Lip Kit in Kourt K
Do you know how long it took to get myself one of these Kylie Lip Kits? I swear trying to buy a damn Kylie Lip Kit is the makeup equivalent to the Hunger Games. It is intense! You have to log on exactly or even before the launch time, refresh, hope that the site doesn't crash, or start praying so nothing sells out. It sounds quite ridiculous because it actually is, but somehow I was able to get my hands on Kourt K. Everyone and their mother have been hyping the Kylie Lip Kits since they were released last year and I honestly wanted one not because I adore Kylie Jenner but because I wanted to see if it would live up to the hype. In this post I'm going to show you everything! I'll be reviewing both the lip liner, as well as the matte liquid lipstick. And I'll also be showing you color dupes, formula comparisons, and run through the pros/cons.

Here's the review of the Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kit in Kourt K. I highly recommend to watch the review before scrolling through the rest of the post. In the video you'll be seeing how the product applies and how it matches up to similar products. I will also let you know if it's worth the money or not in this review.
Kylie Lip Kit in Kourt K
The Kylie Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lipstick in Kourt K ($29) contains 0.11 fl oz/3.25 ml of product. The formula is very comfortable, flexible, and long wearing. The matte liquid lipstick is cruelty-free, paraben-free, and made in the USA. It has a strong vanilla scent which disappears once the lipstick has dried down to a matte finish. As a reference the ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip ($6) also contains 0.11 fl oz/3.25 ml and is encased in a nearly identical packaging. They also have a similar formula, but the doe foot applicator in the ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip is slightly longer.

The Kylie Cosmetics Lip Liner in Kourt K ($29) contains 0.03 oz/1.0g of product. The formula of the lip liner is creamy and applies very smoothly. The lip liner is cruelty-free, paraben-free, and made in the USA. The product does contain dimethicone which is a form of silicone. As a reference the ColourPop Lippie Pencils ($5) also contain 0.03 oz/1.0 g of product and the packaging is nearly identical. Both lip liners are made out of plastic and must be sharpened. The formula are nearly identical in the way they perform and they both have a very similar list of ingredients.

Here's a close up of Kylie Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lipstick in Kourt K, as mentioned in the video this color is quite patchy which is the thing I dislike the most out of this formula. Generally speaking darker liquid lipsticks apply patchy, it's just the nature of them. If you want a more opaque look I would recommend filling your lips entirely with the lip liner before applying the matte liquid lipstick.
Kylie Lip Kit in Kourt K vs. ColourPop Creature
Here is the comparison of the Kylie Cosmetics Lip Liner in Kourt K and the ColourPop Lippie Pencil in Creature. The first swatch of each color is with one swipe, while the bottom one is a heavier swatch so you can see the color. They're not exact color dupes (I think Leather might be a closer dupe) but they're still in the same color family and have the same matte finish. In this case I would say that ColourPop Lippie Pencil in Creature is even better than the Kylie Cosmetics Lip Liner in Kourt K.
Kylie Lip Kit in Kourt K Dupes
Here are the similar colors in my collection. Kylie Cosmetics Lip Liner in Kourt K and NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Transylvania are both blackened purples. Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Crème Lipstick in Blow and ColourPop Lippie Pencil in Creature are both dark berry shades. Once the lip colors are on the lips they're all going to give you a very dark and vampy pout.
Kylie Lip Kit in Kourt K dupes
Here's a comparison of all the matte liquid lipstick formulas that I compared to the Kylie Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lipstick in Kourt K. In terms of application and formula, I found that it's closest dupe was the ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip. In terms of wear, I found that it wore the most similar to the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick. The Lime Crime Velvetines has a more liquidy formula and a higher opacity. The Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipstick has a mousse like formula and feel on the lips. Both LA Splash Smitten Lip Tint and the LA Splash Lip Couture are much thicker and have an insanely long lasting formula that I often struggle to remove. And finally the Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick has a more liquidy and creamy formula.
