Outfit of the Day | Earth Tones

You all know that I tend shy away from color a lot of the time, but this year I really do want to challenge myself to wear just a little more color. While I'm not planning on going all out with a yellow cardigan and hot pink pants like Kimmy Schmidt, I do plan to start off by wearing playful makeup and experimenting toned down colors in my wardrobe. And yes, I'm currently binge watching the show as I type up this post and I'm loving how silly it is. Back to this post though, in this outfit you're going to see how easy it is to incorporate color by pairing Earth tones.

Outfit of the Day | Relaxed

I know I'm not the only one who spends a lot of time browsing Pinterest for outfit inspiration. I always find myself pinning images of women with the most effortless and relaxed styles in hope that someday I'll be a little like them. Well, it has happened! At least I think it has... Yesterday while running a few boring errands in the harsh San Diego heat, I pulled out this casually cool ensemble. Not only was it extremely practical for running around but it also looked very effortless. And to top it off, I had a great picture day! This was probably the best I've ever felt while posing for outfit of the day pictures, and it's definitely because of the healthy lifestyle choices that I've been adapting.

Outfit of the Day | The Southern Californian Coat

Do you know how hard it is to find the perfect coat for a Southern Californian winter? Most coats are way too thick for our temperate winters, but this past Christmas I was gifted the most perfect coat. The wool coat from Zara isn't too thick but it's more than enough to keep me warm when it's a bit chilly outside. It can be dressed up to look more chic, or dressed down with a pair of sneakers. And it's the best coat for layering! I was definitely missing a classic coat like this one in my capsule wardrobe, but thankfully my goddaughter knows about my very plain style very well.

Outfit of the Day | Scarf Weather

Can you believe that it's gotten so cold that I've had take out my scarves? Yeah, me neither. Although our winters here in San Diego are pretty darn weak when compared to what I experienced while I was studying in Paris, when you experience hot weather almost all year long a 30º F drop makes a huge difference. While it's not cold enough for a thick coat, I have gotten the opportunity to wear my thick burnt orange colored snood I purchased while I was in Paris! I've also been on a serious beanie and boots kick lately and the ones that I'm wearing happen to be from the men's section. Maybe shopping in the men's department won't work for every woman, but if you happen to have big feet and a big head (or lots of hair) then you might want to rethink visiting the men's section without your significant other.

Outfit of the Day | My Favorite Sweater

Do you want to know how excited I am that it finally cooled down in San Diego? I am THIS excited! I have been waiting for the weather to cool down and we're finally experiencing 43ºF (6ºC) weather, which means that I can now update my capsule wardrobe and pull out all my sweaters. My favorite piece in my closet for the past few weeks has been this oversized green sweater from Zara that I picked up at one of their sales about two years ago. The sweater had been worn maybe two times after it was purchased, but I think I've easily worn it five times since the weather started cooling down a few weeks ago. Chunky oversized sweaters are definitely not for everyone since they don't enhance your body, but if you're a fan of the oversized trend then you'll love this. Plus it's cozy AF!

Outfit of the Day | Blush and Rose featuring JORD

We're finally getting some cooler weather in San Diego, so I felt like was finally time to start using one of my favorite blazers in my closet. This blush colored blazer was a piece that I picked up last summer but sadly has barely been worn due to our hot weather. Another rosy item that has been getting some love is my rose gold watch from JORD. In case you're not familiar with the brand, JORD is a contemporary watch company that creates unique and sustainable watches made out of wood. When I first laid eyes on the Sidney series watch, I knew it was for me. Just like myself there's elements in the watch that are quite masculine inspired such as the thick band, but then you have the delicate rose gold to provide a nice contrast. I remember the time when I used to avoid white clothing like the plague. Believe it or not, white clothing used to intimidate me because I assumed that it would get dirty in a snap. They can and will show stains easily, but if you're careful you can go the whole day without getting anything on it. Another reason why white used to intimidate me was because fashion magazines make it out to seem like only slim people can get away with white clothing. When paired with darker pieces, a white top can look very flattering on any body type. Today I'll be showing you how I style a basic loose white t-shirt with some fall-ready black booties and simple Pearl Earrings from Happiness Boutique.

In my last outfit of the day post I had mentioned my capsule wardrobe plans, well I did it! I am not partaking in the Project 333 Challenge, but I did declutter my closet quite a lot. I used to have over 200 pieces in my closet and I condensed it to less than 60 clothing pieces. I now feel very comfortable with the number of clothing pieces that I own, but that means that you'll be seeing some pieces over and over on the blog. I'm sure that most of you won't mind since realistically speaking we're all repeat offenders, and that's totally ok! In this blog post I'm going to show you one of my favorite outfits that I've worn this summer which happens to be a great transition piece as we're heading to fall (although it doesn't even feel that way here). Earlier this summer I decided that I'm going to begin to transition into a capsule wardrobe. If you don't know what that means, I'm basically going to limit my wardrobe to 30-40 pieces. In order to do that, I've been selling some of my clothing and putting stuff aside to donate. It's not easy decluttering your closet, but building a capsule wardrobe has proven to be quite fun. The few fashion pieces that I've picked up as of late have been purchased if they fit the following criteria: 1.) Will I get a lot of wear from this? 2.) Can I style it in multiple ways? 3.) Do I feel comfortable in this? And from there I decide if it's worth adding into my wardrobe or not. Today I'm going to show you one of my favorite outfits that I've been wearing quite often this summer.

Over the past few months my wardrobe has been transitioning from loud colors and prints to a more minimal style. I've been embracing clothes with different silhouettes and a color palette that would please any Parisian out there. I have been admiring the minimalist style for a few years now, but I never thought it would fit a girl like me because I am not exactly stick thin. In more recent months I've discovered that style doesn't have anything to do with the size of your clothes, if you like something then wear it. This more dark and minimal style just suits me at this point of my life and whenever I wear something along these lines it just feels very effortless. Isn't that what everyday style is supposed to be?

I'm finally back from a very fun weekend in Los Angeles. I'm currently very tired but Lucky Fabb was so much fun. I got to meet so many great bloggers, get inspired, and enjoy a mini break from my day-to-day routine. The first day of Lucky Fabb consisted of the sessions so I made sure to choose something comfortable that would reflect my personal style. The dress I'm wearing actually belonged to my mom. She was cleaning out her closet when I spotted the dress and decided to keep it for myself. Let's just say that I'm very happy I "stole" this from my mom because I love the dress.

Last Friday I attended my first ever December Nights at Balboa Park. It is a two-day celebration held at Balboa Park (the area that houses many of San Diego's museums and also the zoo). There's a lot of food, gifts to buy, music, and free activities for the family during December Nights. Most of the museums were free that day which made me really happy, and you get to walk around and see the park completely decorated in lights. I'm going to share with you the outfit I choose to wear to December nights. It isn't the most holiday-ish outfit but I just really wanted somewhere to wear my holographic shoes out.

Get Ready With Me | FWSD Edition

FWSD week over at Laura Neuzeth is now coming to an end with a little "get ready with me" video. When in doubt one can never go wrong with a "get ready with me," plus it was a look that got a lot of compliments at FWSD. Whenever I wear a head wrap and red lips I can't help but feel Chiquita Banana, I know that sounds strange but I wish I could rock a bowl of fruit in my head like her. Summer to Fall Outfit Ideas

Fall is officially here even if the weather down in San Diego refuses to let go of summer. In my latest video I'm going to show you how you can turn a basic summer outfit into a full fall outfit by just adding and switching around a few pieces. I'm even taking the most simple outfit like a tank top and shorts and updating it into a fall outfit. For those who live in a colder climate please feel free to take inspiration from the video but add necessary pieces such as tights or thick leggings to keep yourselves warm.

On Friday I had the opportunity to attend a blogger event at the cool rocker boutique, The Beat, located in Carlsbad. That was the first time I've ever gone Carlsbad Village area and you know what? It's a pretty cool area. There's lots of restaurants and boutiques which is sure to satisfy the needs of both locals and tourists alike. The Beat definitely stands out  from the other boutiques in Carlsbad Village which tend to cater more to the beachy Californian girl. From the moment I walked in I definitely got a good vibe all thanks to the rad music and decor.

This past Sunday I got the chance to visit the Watts Towers with my boyfriend. I have to admit I hadn't heard of them since I'm not from the area, but I'm very glad I got to see Simon Rodia's work in person. I honestly couldn't believe that an older man built the towers predominantly by himself and with absolutely no special equipment. Everything from the story to the actual towers was absolutely incredible.

Outfit of the Day | Spring Break!

Spring break is finally here! And although I didn't have the money to take a big trip, I just had to get out of San Diego for a couple of days. I decided to see my friends up in Orange County, go to Six Flags, and not think about school for a couple of days. Since the weather has been rather nice this week I figured out that I can finally think of a way to wear this American Apparel crop top I bought a couple months ago and I think I did. Although the crop top is extremely short I think I can make it work with high waisted pieces like this skirt.

One more week of school left till Spring Break! YESS! This past weekend I went down to Tijuana to take my chow chow, Buster, to the vet and also see my grandmother. Since the whole outing was very laid back, I decided to keep things pretty casual and comfortable. Unfortunately this post will be shorter than others because my mom really doesn't know how to use an DSLR (durp!).
