Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Palette- Random Color Challenge

Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Palette
In my last Random Color Challenge, I asked you whether you wanted to see me attempt this challenge with the Anastasia Beverly Hill Subculture Palette or my ColourPop custom palette. I have to say that I was quite surprised to see how many of you wanted to see me use the Subculture Palette. I thought people were still hating on the palette but boooy was I wrong. I took a quick peek at the reviews online and the palette now has four stars on Sephora.com! It's crazy what a few months can do, huh? Well I still adore this palette and I was so happy to try something different with it.

Yet ANOTHER ABH Subculture Review

Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Eye Shadow Palette Review
I honestly can't think of a palette in recent years that has been more controversial than the Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Eye Shadow Palette. Apart from their brow products, I've never really had Anastasia Beverly Hills in my radar until the release of this palette. I was immediately attracted to the autumnal color scheme, particularly the orange tones and greens. It's actually quite rare when I buy a product the day it launches because I always like to watch or read reviews before spending my money on it, but I made an exception for the Subculture Palette. Upon watching the first round of video reviews on YouTube I began to worry that perhaps I made a mistake placing my order, but was it a mistake? Is this palette really as bad as the YouTube elite claim?

November 2016 Favorites

November 2016 Favorites
Am I the only one who feels like panicking right now? We only have one month left to go! One more month before 2016 officially comes to an end. While part of me is relieved that this year is almost over, the other part of me is completely shocked by how fast this year went by. Before I know it I'm going to be turning 27, I'll have to deal with all the crazy holiday shoppers, and then just like that it'll be Christmas. But before we start all the holiday related videos, I want to reflect back on my favorite products of November. This past month I gravitated towards products that really simplified my morning routine, which I desperately needed since I'm not a morning person whatsoever.

2 Looks Easy Eye Looks Using the Giorgio Armani Eye Tints

2 Looks Easy Eye Looks Using the Giorgio Armani Eye Tints
On Sunday I uploaded the Giorgio Armani Eye Tint review and today I have a tutorial using the Eye Tints. I actually didn't plan on doing a tutorial but I had so much leftover footage of me creating these two looks for my review. I honestly felt really bad to let the footage go to waste, so instead I decided to take that footage and create a tutorial showing you two very easy eye looks using the Eye Tints shades that I reviewed. The results are a simple everyday eye look and the easiest smokey eye imaginable. In the tutorials you'll be able to see how well the Eye Tints blend out and onto one another, which is one of the main reasons why I love them so much.

August 2016 Favorites

August 2016 Favorites
August was definitely a much better month for me than July. It seems like things are finally falling into place and there's some exciting ventures ahead. There was even some very exciting beauty discoveries this past month! I found my new go-to acne treatments that don't dry out my oily skin, some products that combine my love for nerdy things and makeup, and I even found the most comfortable nude lip combo. August was a pretty easy breezy month for me, which I honestly needed that after experiencing one of the most frustrating summers. And now that August is over, I can start counting down for fall! I just want cooler weather, dark lip colors, and fall clothing.

July 2016 Favorites

July 2016 Favorites
July was a very odd month for me. I can easily say that it started off as one of the worst months because dealing with a breakup was not easy, but with that very strange transition came something quite refreshing. I had been playing it very safe with my makeup lately and in July I started experimenting with different colors, textures, and brands. I honestly haven't had this much with makeup in a while and it really brought back a lot of memories of when I started falling in love with makeup in 2008. This past month I also fell back in love with MAC which was the first makeup brand that I became obsessed with. I literally have makeup to thank for getting me out of a physical and emotional rut this last month.

MAC Star Trek Tutorial | Deanna Troi Inspired

MAC Star Trek Tutorial | Deanna Troi Inspired
A lot of you really loved the makeup that I wore when I reviewed the MAC Star Trek collection, so I decided to recreate this look for you guys. This particular look was inspired by the glamorous Deanna Troi of Star Trek: The Next GenerationDeanna Troi is one of four female characters that inspired the upcoming MAC Star Trek collection and I personally happen to love her makeup the best. She honestly looked like a Greek goddess in space, she was such a stunning character. Deanna Troi was known for her big curls (which I'm very jealous of), her sultry smokey eyes, and a subtle rosy pout. My makeup look is more of a modern take on what Deanna Troi wore and I added more drama to the eyes by using those bold lashes from the MAC Star Trek collection.

MAC Star Trek Comic Con Experience

MAC Star Trek Comic Con Experience
Last Friday I was invited by MAC to experience their Star Trek event outside of San Diego Comic Con and let me tell you, it was out of this world! The 4-day event was free to the public and consisted of four separate experiences inspired by four women in the Star Trek universe. There was an area where you could check out the whole collection and swatch your heart away, two areas where you could get a makeover, and there was also an area that resembled the Enterprise where you could purchase the collection weeks before it officially launches. Not only was I able to get my hands on a few things but I also got a intergalactic makeover by local MAC MUA Brad Crespo.

What's In My Bag? | Everlane The Twill Zip Tote

What's In My Bag? | Everlane The Twill Zip Tote
Today I decided to film one of the YouTube beauty guru classics, a simple "What's In My Bag?" video. It's been over a year and a half since the last time I filmed one, so it was time for me to show you what I'm now carrying inside my bag. I also have a new everyday bag which is practical, simple, and very minimal. I personally don't like carrying something that has the brand's name or emblem splattered throughout the whole bag, it's just not my cup of tea. My new everyday bag is the Everlane The Twill Zip Tote, which is roomy enough for all my belongings and built very well. This is by far the most comfortable handbag/tote bag that I own, and I love knowing that it was made ethically.

MAC Star Trek Collection

MAC Star Trek Collection
You have no idea how excited I got when MAC first announced their Star Trek limited edition collection to commemorate Star Trek's 50th Anniversary. Being the geek that I am, this collection was like a dream come true. The collection was inspired by four strong women in the Star Trek universe: Uhura, Deanna Troi, Seven of Nine, and Orions. I was lucky enough to have been able to attend the MAC x Star Trek experience outside of Comic Con and get to see the collection in person before the official launch (more about the experience in a few days), and when I came back home I received a very generous package from MAC. In this post you'll be seeing a comprehensive preview of the Star Trek collection. I made sure to share important information about the collection, product reviews, and swatches. I basically have all my fellow geeks completely covered in this post!

3 Ways to Wear Red Lipstick

3 Ways to Wear Red Lipstick
The 3 Ways to Style videos got a little beauty makeover. When I started brainstorming the "3 Ways to" video series, I always knew that I wanted to take that video concept and adapt it to makeup. I feel like many people will purchase something that is out of their comfort zone and rarely wear the product or always wear it the same way. For example, I still get so many questions about how to wear red lipstick since it's so bright and in your face. I understand that people can get intimidated by such an intense shade, so my goal for this series is to show the versatility of a specific makeup product. I'm starting out this series with a classic warm red lipstick, which has become somewhat of my signature look. I also teamed up with my friend Will Cook for this video, so you'll be seeing a total of 6 ways to wear a red lipstick.

Outfit of the Day | Babouche

Outfit of the Day | Babouche
One of the "it" shoes of 2016 is the Moroccan babouche. Yes, those pointy and flat slippers are in and you know I'm all over that trend. I'm a fan of any type of flat shoes, especially if they resemble slippers! You have Acne Studios selling a babouche for $490 and Everlane selling a modern take on the babouche for $145. I don't know about you, but I personally don't have the budget to be spending over $100 on a pair of shoes at the moment. And that's when my thrifty instincts kicked in and I started searching for a way to try the trend and save some money. Luckily I was able to find a new pair of handmade babouches from Fez, Morocco on Poshmark and I purchased them immediately! My dad may not like my new "Aladdin" shoes, but now I can say that I'm obsessed with the babouche trend.

Natural Strobing

Natural Strobing
I don't what has gotten into me lately but this oily skin gal has been embracing dewy skin. It all started when I got the stunning Sleek Makeup Highlighting Palette in Precious Metals in my life. The palette includes three cream highlight shades and one powder highlight, all the shades give your skin a natural and luminous glow. If you've been wanting to try out the strobing technique but found a lot of the tutorials too dramatic for everyday life, then maybe you'll enjoy this subtle take on the trend.

10 Makeup Tips I Learned from a Pro

A few days ago I was lucky enough to attend a bridal makeup class at the MAC Cosmetics store in Westfield Plaza Bonita. The teacher for this class was none other than the talented Gisel Calvillo, a MAC Senior Artist since 2003 who happens to be a very strong and passionate Mexican woman. Although the class was technically a bridal makeup course, the tips that were shared can work for every woman and any occasion. If you're a fan of using makeup to enhance your natural beauty, then you would have loved Gisel's tips. She's definitely a "less is more" type of girl who likes to create looks that will make a woman feel beautiful.

Radiant Makeup Tutorial

Radiant Makeup Tutorial
As much as I go on and on about keeping things matte, sometimes even someone like myself can appreciate a nice and healthy glow. In today's tutorial I'm going to show you how easy it is to achieve a radiant makeup look without looking like a greasy mess. I actually wore this makeup look in my L'Oréal True Match Lumi Cushion Foundation review and I got so many requests to recreate this particular look. As simple as this look may be, I didn't have anything like this in my channel which surprised me quite a bit considering my makeup style. Plus this would make for such a pretty Valentine's Day look since that's right around the corner!

Blog Sale

Blog Sale
I've been wanting to do a blog sale for the longest time because I have so much makeup that I no longer use. A few years back I was all about the bright colors and glittery eyeshadows, which is clearly not my makeup style nowadays. I was debating whether about how to do this blog sale for the longest time since I've heard a lot of bad stories about blog sales in the past. When Poshmark announced that you could now list makeup I immediately jumped on that bandwagon. I've been a Poshmark user for over two years and have sold a lot of my clothing and accessories through the app, which is why I chose it to host my blog sale. I just trust on the app a lot, and there's a few benefits by shopping the blog sale through the Poshmark app that you wouldn't get otherwise.

Everyday Makeup Tutorial

Everyday Makeup Tutorial
I was getting requested to do a natural everyday look recently, so I decided to film another chatty tutorial walking you through what I normally do! On most days I just want to even out my skin, add a sheer wash of color on the lids, and then finish the look up with a bright lip. I didn't use a ton of product on my skin, but I did want to do a dark bold lip on this occasion. The lip color can be easily substituted for a nude lip or sheer gloss based on your preference. I also have to mention that this tutorial is a very quick one, if I wasn't filming this video I would be able to do everything in about 10 minutes which isn't too shabby.

July 2015 Favorites

July Favorites
July has come and gone! And in a week I'll be boarding a plane to San Francisco so I can attend the Outside Lands festival for a third year in a row! I'm super excited about my trip because it's been a whole year since my last one (which is sad to think about since I love traveling). But before I start packing my bags I need to show you the things I consistently used in the month of July. As always there's a good variety of things in my favorites videos. This month I discovered #highlightonfleek, affordable liquid lipsticks, and dumped my aluminum deodorants in the trash can.

Style Swap with Its Halo

Style Swap with Its Halo
If I had to describe my makeup style, I would say it's natural and very wearable. I like to keep things neutral so I can wear a bright coral or red lip. My friend Alo of Its Halo is the complete opposite from me, she loves color and lots of drama. I've been YouTube friends with her for over a year now and her looks always leave me with my jaw open. She's incredibly talented, creative, and not afraid to experiment with color. We've collaborated once before when we did the Decades Collab but we wanted to do another collab as bilingual YouTubers. She's one of the very few people I know that also does videos and blog posts in English and Spanish, so there's definitely a special connection right there. If you want to see us swap makeup styles then just keep reading this post!
